What is old? What is new?: November edition

After last mont’s success I’ve decided to proceed with the “What is old? What is new?” themed reviews where I will be
A) giving a short sum-up on the products that I’ve finished and
B) showing you some sneak-previews of newly attained products that will be reviewed in coming months.

* You can always message me about the products listed in the post for a fast-track review.

So, as usually, today’s first half of the post is the “Empties” category with a  short sum-up of what I thought of the product after finishing it. The “Newcomers” products are listed more towards the end of this post and more thorough reviews that are going to gradually appear on my blog sometime soon.

Same as last time, I won’t be reviewing every sheet mask that I’ve use in the past month because the regular sheet mask reviews are appearing here on the blog as a normal content. For all of the Empties  I will be using the 5 point scoring system in order to rate each product based on whether I repurchase it or not:

❇❇❇❇❇– Holy Grail, will probably purchase it up until I retire
❇❇❇❇– Excellent product, will consider repurchasing it (unless I stumble across a better alternative)
❇❇❇– Good one for overal use but there is definitely a better known alternative for it
❇❇– Not impressive or not performing well on my skin
❇– Waste of money (try before you buy)

Skin care

MISSHA Super Aqua Ultra Waterful Active Toner 150 ml

Rating: ❇❇❇❇❇

Absolute must have if you have oily dehydrated skin. This product is my HG. It has a pleasant smell and viscous texture. You can decant it and use it as a mist and it will last you a long time. Also perfect for the 7-skin method or for layering with other toners. I am a big fan of the entire range and nearly all products have the HG status in my book.

MISSHA Super Aqua Ultra Waterful Control Emulsion 130 ml

Rating: ❇❇❇❇❇

Many people don’t know that this entire line contains the extracts and oils and extracts from desert plants that are holding onto moisture in the most harsh environments. This moisturizer is the proof that sometimes you can use one product and see the results no matter what. Rich, hydrating, nourishing, doesn’t clog my pores and perfectly nutritious for my skin.

MISSHA Time Revolution White Cure Blanc Tone Up Toner 150ml

Rating: ❇❇❇

Not my favorite but not bad either. It hydrates the skin well but for some reason I do feel it sitting on top of my skin. I don’t like that feeling and that’s why I won’t repurchase it again. In terms of whitening the entire line does help with hyper-pigmentation issues.

MISSHA Time Revolution White Cure Blanc Tone Up Lotion 120 ml

Rating: ❇❇❇

Very nice moisturizer that sinks in fast into the skin. The brightening effect is cumulative and is best achieved with using the entire line of White Cure. Will not repurchase it as it is on more pricier side and I do prefer Manyo Factory Galactomyces Niacin essence over it.

MISSHA Time Revolution White Cure Science Blanc Tone Up Cream

Rating: ❇

My least favorite product From the entire White Cure line. It was too liquid in consistency and drooping. After a month it started to separaate in the jar and I had to mix it every time before I wanted to apply it. I’d advise you to skip it and turn your heads towards LIOELE whitening skin care or RE:P products.

MISSHA Super Aqua Ice Tear Emulsion 5 ml

Rating: ❇❇❇❇

Very light essence that is perfect for summer. Very neutral and suitable for all skin types, especially for younger teenager skin. Perfect as a basic hydration product for AM and PM care for oily and combined skin types.

MISSHA For Men Extreme Renew Lotion 5 ml

Rating: ❇❇❇

I didn’t realize at first that this sample was from men care line. Anyhow, pleasant scent and texture. Gave it to my husband and he said it was stinging his chin a bit after he applied it on freshly shaved face. Has a pleasant scent but contains a lot of alcohol in formula. Will not purchase a full size.

MISSHA Flower Sleeping Mask [Rose] 100 ml

Rating: ❇❇❇❇

One of the lighter texture sleeping masks that has no sticky leftover feel on my face. Very pleasant scent and texture and it keeps my skin hydrated all night long. Loving how simple yet effective this one is. Will not repurchase it yet because I want to finish off some other sleeping masks in my possession but will definitely consider rebuying it for the coming summer.

Estee Lauder Nutritious Radiant Vitality 2-in-1 Foam Cleanser

Rating: ❇❇❇

Very nice and great smelling product. You can use it as a cleanser or a purifying mask. It does tend to dry out my face which I don’t like. It is very effective as a cleanser but felt like it is too much for my skin in terms of pulling out more moisture that I expected. Will not repurchase it again because there are many more cleansers that perform as good as this one without stripping my skin dry.

SPF care

Biotherm Wet or Dry Skin – Melting Sun Fluid Face & Body SPF 30 200ml

Rating: ❇❇❇❇❇

My HG product for vacations and going swimming. It is so great on the skin and can be applied on both dry and wet skin surface. The only down side is that it leaves a bit of an oily finish on the skin. The absorbance is superb plus it doesn’t turn white on the skin when it comes in contact with water. Absolute love of mine.

Biotherm Crème Solaire Anti Age – Melting Face Cream SPF30 50ml

Rating: ❇❇

Fail product from BIOTHERM. IT leaves a thick white cast on the face when applied and tends to roll up if you try to use it under your make-up. It does leave your skin super matte for a long time but the white cast is very obvious and not something I want to have on my face.

Dior Capture Totale Solaire Global Anti Aging Suncare SPF 20 UVA 50 ml

Rating: ❇

Huge fail from DIOR. SPF20 is not enough to protect your skin through-ought the day. Sun is not so active where I leave yet I managed to burn my face several times with this product on my face. It is also very greasy and oily and stings when gets into the eyes. I ended up using it as an SPF hand cream. Do not buy, total waste of a looot of money.

Hair care

Rating: ❇

Keratin product containing SLS and other sulfates is not a proper way to treat keratin treated hair. False advertising from the brand and a total fail on the hair. Strips it dry. Smells like coconut oil which is nice. Not worth the money.

One ‘n Only Brazilian Tech Keratin Smoothing Conditioner 250ml

Rating: ❇

Same as with the shampoo it is based on false advertising. Absolutely not suitable for har that had undergone a keratin treatment.  Save your money for better alternatives. Hydrates hair somewhat but brings more damage than good to my hair.

Missha Procure Active Protecting Treatment 150ml

Rating: ❇❇❇❇

Very nourishing treatment for my hair. Contains very little fragrance which is very nice for sensitive noses out there. Has a very silicony slip to it when first applied on the hair.  I love that it contains UV filters for protecting my hair. Best suited for more normal, colour treated hair.

Missha Procure Intensive Repairing Treatment 150ml

Rating: ❇❇❇❇

Very effective at nourishing super dry and fizzy hair. For now too much on my hair.  Same as with the Active Protecting version, it contains very little fragrance which is quite lovely for a change. Has a very thick consistency that is somewhat oily (not much). Contains UV filters.

Macadamia Professional Ultra Rich Moisture Shampoo 1000ml

Rating: ❇❇❇

Good but not great. Reformulated version is very soapy and strips my hair to the bone in comparison to the original. Will not repurchase it any time soon since I’ve found a much better alternative for it from WHAMISA.

Macadamia Natural Oil No Tangle Pre-Styler Spray 100ml

Rating: ❇❇❇❇❇

The entire line of Macadamia hair products in the classic packaging has been my HG hair care for years. This spray is not an exception. It is great at detangling my hair. It makes me sad because is so hard to come buy nowadays. the new packaging has new formula that is not as great as the old original presented to you on the image above.

Whamisa Organic Seeds Hair Treatment 20ml

Rating: ❇❇❇❇

I had hoped too much from this product. I was expecting an amazing scent like the deep rich toner from the brand and that’s when it failed me the most. Despite the too high expectations, this ask is very good for thin, brittle hair. Leaves my hair nourished and shiny after one use.

Whamisa Organic Seeds Shampoo for Dry Scalp 20ml

Rating: ❇❇❇❇❇

Turning to be my HG product. Mild yet fresh, great cleansing power, doesn’t strip my hair, an absolute WOW for me. Will definitely purchase it in full size for the summer. Sample size was enough for 2 double rinse uses on my hair.

Whamisa Organic Seeds Hair Essence 20ml

Rating: ❇❇❇

Good but not great. Smell is divine yet formula is too much for my hair. This particular essence is one of those “Try before you buy items”.  On more thicker and coarse hair will probably perform beautifully. Unfortunately my bleached thin hair didn’t take it so well.

Fanola Nutri Care Restructuring Hair Mask 1500ml

Rating: ❇❇❇❇❇

Superb hair conditioning mask if you have keratin treatment on your hair. Huge size tub lasts you forever and is very affordable investment into better looking hair. My 2nd favorite hair treatment of all times. If you like to tone your hair, this one has a perfect consistency for mixing in a colored toner product.

Body care

Bomb Cosmetics Cleansing Shower Butter Raspberry 320g

Rating: ❇❇❇❇❇

One of my bath HG products. Very creamy and soapy on my skin. I usually apply it on my body letting it melt entirely (takes about 5 minutes to do so). after that take your favorite loofah and do some scrubbing. My skin is always bright and smooth and super-soft after using this shower butter. The raspberry scent is my favorite from the entire line.

The Body Shop Cranberry Joy Limited Edition Body Scrub 200ml (sold out)

Rating: ❇❇❇

Cranberry seeds in this scrub are very good at exfoliating my skin. I like how it works on my skin but I am not the fan of the scent. It tends to go sour when comes in contact wit my skin. Will not repurchase it again.

The Body Shop Blueberry Limited Edition Body Scrub 200ml

Rating: ❇❇

Not scrubby enough. This scrub has stained my bathroom and I had to use bleach to remove stains from the tub. Poor performance on the skin. Too much jelly in the formula and too few scrubbing particles. The scent is blueberry-jam and very lingering on the skin.

The Body Shop Special Edition Virgin Mojito Shower Gel 250ml (sold out)

Rating: ❇❇❇

Lovely fresh scent, affordable price. Big downside for me is that it strips my skin too dry and I’ve had to switch over to something more skin friendly. Smell is superb and refreshing. Gives you a lot of energy.

Lancôme Sensuelle Summer Body Moisturizer 400ml

Rating: ❇❇❇❇❇

Super gentle yet effective self-tanning product. Do not expect the Black-mamba results in one time use. The gradual daily use will give you beautiful glow that has a very natural shade to it. Doesn’t smell like grilled chicken on my skin and contains little shimmer in the formula. Perfection in my books!

As for the newest items in my stash I’ve focused on getting a little bit of everything that is related to the winter care. Oh, I also got 2 most beautiful perfumes ideal for the cold months. As you may see, I’m vigorously testing out the HUXLEY line. Now that I’m done testing the miniature gift set from this brand, I finally got the next batch of HUXLEY to try out.  This time oils and essences. I also bought some sheet masks to see what is the fuss about. The review on these will follow shortly after this post. From my HG products I’ve repurchased my TYF sun cream and went again for a box of intensive ampoule treatments by COLLISTAR.

Since it is nearly winter rime I am more and more interested in the oil type of products because I’ve started using some heavy duty AHA products and need to be careful with balance my skin’s oil levels as well. Believe me, oil matters as much as moisture when it comes to the skin resurfacing using AHA/BHA acids. Hence, I will be testing the oil balm kit by NEOGEN containing 2 products enriched with white truffle oil. I’ve also gotten some bits and bobs for my hair, couple of ampoules from MANYO FACTORY, two most amazing perfumes for the fall/winter and a new packet of the daily PONG DANG Water masks by MISSHA. I’ve also splurged on two amazing scents from Dior and Elie Saab.

I will do my best trying to review each item individually but can’t promise that this will happen any time soon. I’m starting 2 courses that will continue till middle of December and, unfortunately, I am left with very little time for reviews. I will try to submit as much info as possible when possible but won’t mention any time frames this time.  For now, please, stay tuned for the new reviews.

Thank you for reading!

Yours truly, Kati 🙂

NEOGEN Dermalogy Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling Lemon

NEOGEN Dermalogy Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling Lemon is my 2nd review of the NEOGEN stuff on my blog and there is much more on the way. I am keeping my favorites for last 🙂

❇ Exfoliation that is so easy, convenient, effective yet gentle. ❇ Soaked in Vitamin C rich serum formulated from various antioxidant and vitamin-rich natural ingredients, these convenient cotton gauze peeling pads will leave your skin smoother, radiant, and brighter than ever.  It is like sunshine in a jar for your skin!
❇ Gentle Peeling: Manual Exfoliation Pads Combined with Chemical Peeling Effect of the Lemon Serum Help Remove Dead Skin Cells, Cleanse, and Purify the Skin
❇ Brighter, More Radiant Skin: Lemon Serum Abundant in Vitamins Delivers Brighter, Healthier and Refreshed Skin
❇ Smoother Skin: Patented 3-layer 100% Cotton Gauze Pads Deliver Smoother, Improved Skin Texture

Directions from the manufacturer:

After cleansing, Use one gauze to gently sweep across dry face and neck in outward motion avoiding eye area. Apply more to problem area and rinse with lukewarm water. Follow with your daily toning. For best results, use twice a week or as needed.

Water (Aqua), Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Alcohol Denat, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange)Fruit Extract, Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit)Fruit Extract, Tricholoma Matsutake Extract, Cordyceps Sinensis Extract, Pisum Sativum (Pea)Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape)Fruit Extract, Saururus Chinensis Leaf/Root Extract, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Glycine Max (Soybean) Seed Extract, Artemisia Absinthium Extract, Broussonetia Kazinoki Bark Extract, Coptis Japonica Extract, Tromethamine, Benzophenone-5, Sodium Hyaluronate, Carbomer, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, CI 19140, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance (Parfum)

My experience:

These NEOGEN gauze peeling pads are coming in big containers with 30 pads per container but for the sake of the review of this particular version I’ve had to score one of the individual tester pads. I like NEOGEN wine and green tea pads a lot more because they suit my skin needs much better than this particular version.

gauze side
cotton side

The Lemon peeling pad  is made in the same way as other peeling pads from this brand. You can insert your fingers in the middle and use both sides of the pad to gently exfoliate the skin. One side is rough and is covered in mixture of gauze and cotton. The other side is embossed cotton that is very soft and glides with ease over the skin. First you have to scrub the face with the gauze side and only then remove the remaining dirt and grime with the soft side.

after use

The  bio-peel gauze peeling with lemon smells like fresh citrus cocktail. Something about this smell reminds me of going to vacations and ordering mint julep or mojito at the bar. That is the exact smell you get when they start pressing lemon with sugar and mint. Unfortunately of of all 3 gauze pads this particular performs poorly on my skin, hence this is least favorite from the bunch for me. One of the reasons is that it  carries alcohol quite high in it’s ingredient list.

After using any of the NEOGEN pads I can always see how well they remove all the dead skin. The pads get dirty even after I do my double cleanse and run my face over with the Thank You Farmer moss cleansing water as a last step before actually using the peeling gauze pad.I enjoy using these about 3x a week. Read the instructions carefully and don’t forget the last step which is to rinse your face after peeling. Removing the remaining liquid is a mandatory step when using these particular peeling pads.

after use

So do these peeling pads actually work? Yes! 100% All NEOGEN pads are effective peeling products and do not break me out. Unfortunately the lemon pads frequently irritate my sensitive skin leading to occasional breakouts. It never happens with other 2. Don’t know where that difference may come from but I am definitely staying away from the lemon version. Nonetheless, despite my experience with these pads, they may work better for you. Especially if your skin is normal to oily.

+ Lovely light scent
+ Great pad design
+ Soft gauze and cotton sides of the pad
+ Gentle mechanical and chemical exfoliation duo
+ Handy sample packaging, easy to travel with
+ Does not irritate my skin

– Woud like to see all of the pads in individual sachets such as with sample version (more hygienic and travel-friendly)
– Broke me out every other time I’ve tried them (only happened with lemon version of these pads)
– Price is quite steep in comparison to other peeling pads
– Contains alcohol (too high on the list)

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: littlewonderland.nl, honeysu.be, coos-cosmetics.com
❇ Internationally: Available at neogen, sokoglam, amazon and many other shops
❇ Price varies between 22-32€ per package of 30 peeling pads

MISSHA 3-step Hydrating Mask

MISSHA 3-step Hydrating Mask is an affordable 3-step treatment for when you are on the go and need a moisture boost. It is a perfect combination for when you are on the plane or trying to recover after prolonged sun exposure.

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ Step 1: Essence fills up the skin with nourishment
Step 2: Sheet mask for intensive moisture care
Step 3: The finishing cream helps form a moisture barrier over the skin
❇ The fine air pocket sheet containing moisturizing essence effectively helps deliver active ingredients to the skin.
❇ The all-in-one mask pack consisting of essence, mask and cream helps provide intensive care to the skin anytime and anywhere, with just one sheet.
❇ Abundant strong moisture of hyaluronic acid helps keep the skin moisturized for long hours by delivering generous amounts of moisture to the skin in each step.

Directions from the manufacturer:

Apply the moisture and abundant nutrition delivering essence on your cleansed skin. Apply the sheet mask and leave it on for 20-30 minutes. It transports active ingredients deep into the skin. Tap the remaining essence into your skin and seal everything with the hydrating cream.

Essence: Water, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Methylpropanediol, Glycereth-26, Sodium Hyaluronate, Imperata Cylindrica Root Extract, Nelumbo Nucifera Root Extract, Allantoin, Panthenol, Carbomer, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Disodium EDTA, 1,2-Hexanediol, Hydroxyacetophenone, Tromethamine, Fragrance.

Sheetmask: Water, Glycerin, Methylpropanediol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Panthenol, Trehalose, Allantoin, Imperata Cylindrica Root Extract, Nelumbo Nucifera Root Extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Tromethamine, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Hydroxyacetophenone, 1,2-Hexanediol, Fragrance.

Cream: Water, Glycerin, Methylpropanediol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Imperata Cylindrica Root Extract, Nelumbo Nucifera Root Extract, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Dimethicone, Polyacrylate-13, Polyisobutene, Polysorbate 20, Polysorbate 80, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Carbomer, Allantoin, Panthenol, Xanthan Gum, Tromethamine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Hydroxyacetophenone, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance.

My experience:
contents of the sheet pack

I like the 3-steps masks as they save a lot of time when it comes to  traveling. They are a great space saver because some sort of cleanser, peel, ampoule, SPF, oil, eye cream is usually a part of the 3-step program. I like to take such masks for short getaways because I don’t have to pack a whole bulk of skin care items with me and I’ve got everything I need in one of such packages. This particular 3-step Hydrating Mask by MISSHA contains a moisture ampoule, sheet mask and a hydrating cream.

The essence is transparent and lightly scented. As we all know, MISSHA fragrances are always mild and pleasant to the nose. In this case all products have the same marine type of fragrance that is very fresh and energizing. Ampoule absorbs into the skin in no time and you can proceed to a step to within a minute. The sheet of the mask is soft and made of synthetic fabric. It is stretchy and hugs face curves in an excellent manner. The fit and adherence are superb.

After 20 minutes there is little to no essence left on the mask. Everything seems to be absorbed into my skin leaving me with no residue. My skin is very hydrated and has a lovely glow to it. In order to keep it that way it is always advised to use a cream no matter what. This particular cream that came with the mask is more of a thick white gel. It has a slip to it and what is in the sachet is enough to cover my face and neck. Overall a perfect amount of everything for a lazy skin care day. My face remains hydrated till the next day and I don’t have to worry about my skin screaming for more moisture.

the end result

+ Great 3 in one product for travel
+ Amazing hydrating results on my skin
+ Calming and cooling + it reduced texture on my skin
+ Good ingredients in all 3 steps
+ Perfect for all skin types
+ Affordable and very effective for it’s price

– All 3 steps contain fragrance which may not suit the ultra sensitive skin

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: bbcreamshop.eu and missha.nl
❇ Internationally: Available at amazon, stylekorean and other online retailers
❇ Price is +/- 2,95€ per one sheet mask

INSTYTUTUM Alive Water is my savior for when it comes to hot and dry scorching weather. I’ve ran out of it before the summer and had to finish my other mistifying products before heading off and buying another one.

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ Designed for those who understands the power of science, who embrace the benefits of pure water, who hold education close to their heart, and who believe that giving is a way of life.
❇ With INSTYTUTUM, your skin care routine will make an impact on the world by giving pure water to communities in need.
❇ Alive Water is a daily breath of fresh Adriatic sea air that will bring a feeling of refreshment to tired skin. Loved for it’s ability to cool down, soothe and comfort your skin, and to give a healthy hydrated glow so it may embrace the new day.

Directions from the manufacturer:

From a comfortable distance spray on your face and feel the perfectly balanced water working it’s magic as it cleans your skin.

Water, Propanediol, Levulinic Acid, Panthenol, Glycerin, Cystoseira Amentacea/Caespitosa Branchycarpa Extract, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium Hydroxide, Sucrose, Saccharomyces/Copper Ferment, Saccharomyces/Iron Ferment, Saccharomyces/Magnesium Ferment, Saccharomyces/Silicon Ferment, Saccharomyces/Zinc Ferment, Meristotheca Dakarensis Exract, Jania Rubens Extract, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Potassium Sorbate, Crithmum Maritimum Extract.

My experience:

INSTYTUTUM Alive Water is one of the finest facia mists that I’v ever tried, and I tried many because I am all for the lazy skin care routines and freshness of my skin. I love to use facial mists and the name Alive Water simply called to me. After running out of my 1st bottle I finally got the 2nd one and could take decent photos of the product. I’ve fished it out from my stash because it was extremely hot for October in NL. Last 3 days it was 27 degrees Celsius  + dry air and my skin was begging for moisture.

sprayed up close

The water that is used in this mis is  filtered 5 times and it is packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants which all boost collagen production. It is scentless liquid that comes in 50 ml travel size and has a beautiful packaging. Very minimalistic and luxurious looking, just the way I like it. I love how aesthetically beautiful the entire line from this brand looks. Well, used to look, they changed it in 2018 making it look horrendous and cheap. The classic white-silver packaging is as amazing as it’s contents.

This mist itself is very fine and layers well throughout the day even over the make-up. It is a perfect make-up spray for me, even though it is not marketed as that.  Overall, it leaves my skin looking healthier. It also applies well over the existing sunscreen which is a great bonus. I tried using it after my gym routines or cycling outdoors but I’ve found a better skin soothing alternative for this purpose. For now this mist will go into my travel must-haves for the coming vacation as it saved my skin on our last trip to the scorching Africa.

+ Perfect travel size packaging
+ Amazing make-up setting spray
+ Extremely fine mist particles
+ Soothing and hydrating
+ Alcohol, silicone, paraben, sulfate free formulation
+ Suitable for all skin types

– Steep price
– Hard to get in NL

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: TKmaxx stores
❇ Internationally: Available at manufacturer’s website
❇ Price is +/- 20€ per 50 ml travel size bottle. Original 150 ml bottle retails for 30€

MINI CAPSULE PACK Deluxe Set of 4 Face Masks by The Face Shop

Today’s review is kind of 4-in-1 deal. After my recent trip to UK and raiding some shops there that sometimes sell the Korean beauty products (yes, TKMaxx, talking about you here) I finally laid my hands on the capsule masks. Unfortunately, the choices were sparse and the only capsules I could see there were from The Face Shop. Without further ado I present to you the glorious and the magnificent “MINI CAPSULE PACK Deluxe Set of 4 Face masks” or “the set” for short.

The set contains 4 mask capsules that contain 10 grams of product each. capsules are made out of brown nontransparent plastic and are covered with a protective seal. Overall, packaging is nice and my only complaints so far are the too long name of the set(way too long and impossible to remember) and the fact that capsules are filled 1/3rd of the way.

Application is same for all 4 masks: Massage onto clean skin, avoiding the eyes and mouth areas. Leave on for 10 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water.

Below are the ingredients for all four masks together with more detailed description of the masks.

Aloe mask

Ingredients: Water/eau, glycerin, propanediol, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, 1,2-hexanediol, beta-glucan, acrylates/c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, peg-32, betaine, potassium hydroxide, diethoxyethyl succinate, peg-60 hydrogenated castor oil, phenoxyethanol, citrus paradisi(grapefruit) fruit extract, xanthan gum, parfum, glyceryl acrylate/acrylic acid copolymer, disodium edta

Texture: Transparent gel
Scent: Very light herbal fragrance
Claims: Soothing

Honey mask

Ingredients: Water/eau, glycerin, propanediol, honey extract, butylene glycol, peg-32, betaine, 1,2-hexanediol, panthenol, carbomer, dimethicone, potassium hydroxide, phenoxyethanol, ppg-26-buteth-26, peg-40 hydrogenated castor oil, disodium edta, sodium polyacrylate, theobroma cacao(cocoa) extract, parfum

Texture: Transparent gel, very smooth application
Scent: This one smells of raw natural honey that you buy from the farmer’s market. Scent is quite prominent in the pack but gets less strong when applied to the face.
Claims: Moisturizing

Pomegranate mask

Ingredients: Water/eau, glycerin, dipropylene glycol, caprylic/capric triglyceride, peg-32, cetearyl alcohol, peg-8 beeswax, peg-100 stearate, panthenol, glyceryl stearate, betaine, sodium hyaluronate, eclipta prostata extract, melia azadirachta leaf extract, punica granatum fruit extract, natto gum, moringa oleifera seed oil, zea mays(corn) starch, mannitol, propanediol, peg-240/hdi copolymer bis-decyltetradeceth-20 ether, caprylic/capric glycerides, 1,2-hexanediol, phenoxyethanol, carbomer, caprylhydroxamic acid, potassium hydroxide, parfum, disodium edta, butylene glycol, ethylhexylglycerin, microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl starch phosphate, iron oxides (CI 77492)

Texture: milky/yoghurt like cream
Scent: Light fruity fragrance
Claims: Resilience, Lifting

Rice mask:

Ingredients: Water/eau, propanediol, cyclopentasiloxane, domethicone, betaine, polysorbate 60, trehalose, glycerin, 1,2-hexanediol, panthenol, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/vp copolymer, microcrystalline cellulose, oryza sativa(rice) powder,peg-32, jojoba wax peg-120 esters, caprylhydroxamic acid, phenoxyethanol, acrylates/c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, hydrogynated lecithin, dimethiconol, potassium hydroxide, cellulose gum, disodium edta, sodium hyalyronate, ethylhexylglycerin, parfum

Texture: semitransparent gel with crushed rice particles in it
Scent: Very light and reminds of Nivea cream
Claims: Brightening

Overall interesting concept of capsules. All four masks behaved well on me without causing any breakouts. They were extremely hard to wash off which I didn’t like at all. I would not repurchase this set.

+ You can get couple of uses out of each capsule
+ Great concept and packaging (I like when products have rather sealed sachets instead of huge tub that once opened can and will collect bacteria)
+ Perfect for vacations and short trips due to the small weight of the container
+ Great combo for multi-masking together with adorable scents
+ Would make a perfect present for a mask-o-maniacs
+ Each mask’s claims are met successfully
+ Quick and easy application/removal process

– Capsules are 1/3 full, quite disappointing upon opening
– Hard to get in the shop, long waiting times if I would want to order these online
– Somewhat steep price for the set (+/- 15$ for total of 40 ml)
– Exhausting to pronounce name
– May be irritating for super sensitive skins out there

Where to buy:
❇ NL: try raiding your local TKMaxx store, you may find it there
❇ Internationally: thefaceshop and ebay
❇ Price is somewhere between 8-12 euros per 4 pc. set

My experience:

I’ve tested this ampoule for full 2 weeks, letting my Borabit Ampoule silently cry on the shelf (sorry babe, I love you but girl has to try something else for a change). It performed equally well and I am very satisfied with the results.

The Cell Renew Snail Ampoule is one of those products with very girly, lux iridescent packaging and is pleasant to look at. I do keep mine in the fridge for the sole purpose of using this serum as a refreshing goodness on hot evenings. What strikes me the most is how economical it is in use. The golden pipette on this is very small and has a button on top. Pushing it allows the product to be pulled into the pipette and if you push it again it will release it’s contents into your hands or onto your face. Despite the fact that pipette is getting only half filled with product, it is exactly the right amount to apply on my face.

The serum has little to no smell. It is fresh and light and I can not pinpoint what particular perfume ingredients are used in it. The consistency is semi-transparent serum that at first feels oily and gliding, but then it is quickly sinking into the skin. I presume that is the famous snail mucin that acts like that on the skin. Once applied it is absorbing fast leaving my skin looking more radiant. When testing it out, the only other product that I used in my evening care was my Super Aqua Mini Pore toner. I didn’t feel like my skin needed any cream after this serum. Last few days I was layering my sleeping packs over it to see if it would cause any breakouts. Also nothing which is a great news for colder months!

What can I say for the 2 weeks of use? My skin is definitely more firm and has less texture to it. I had some small milia breakout situation on my chin right before I started using this ampoule and it was completely gone in 3-4 days. I do notice that my skin got firmer and started producing less oil. I need to blot it once a day nw instead of 2-3 times. It is definitely doing a great job.

I looked up the ingredients and was shocked. 65% of it is the snail mucin filtrate! How cool is that? It is also the 1st ingredient on the list meaning there is no hoax with it having water base with 2 drops of mucin diluted in 10 liters of water. The concentration of 65% is truly remarkable. The minus points on the ingredients are for the alcohol (10th on the list) and silicone(11th on the list) ingredients. Be careful if you have sensitive skin !!!! Still, seeing how my skin has changed over the past 2 weeks, definitely worth buying again!

+ Paraben and sulfate free formulation
+ Contains 65% of snail mucin filtrate
+ Contains niacinamide and adenosine, 2 strongest anti-aging ingredients
+ Meets it’s claims on my skin
+ Good skin plumping results on my skin
+ Excellent at evening the texture
+ Gorgeous design of the packaging
+ Regulates my oil production

– Contains alcohol, silicone and fragrance
– Pipette with the button picks up less product than similar serum products
– May not be suitable for very sensitive skin
– 30 ml is very little for the price

My Skin Care Haul

Now that there is summer and I have more free time on my hands I went out an about to the shops to buy some new Skin Care things. I wandered into Kruidvat and was pleasantly surprised that they started selling sheet masks and  wash-off capsules. Everything I’ve bought is from the brand JiiNJU and each and every product is made in Korea. I’ve tried not to look on the ingredient lists to see what surprises I come across later. My sunscreen favorites this summer

Today’s post is a quick sum-up of my most used sunscreen this summer. And yes, one of them is a baby product which I found works amazing on my baby and me both so I just use the same product on myself when we go out for a stroll.

I feel that all three products are well worth mentioning. It is possible for me to start comparing hundreds of sun care products and come with a top 10 but to mee it seems like it is a big overkill on the topic. I found three products that work for me and I want to share them with you because I am convinced you would like an honest review on things as they are.

1. Missha All Around Safe Block Sebum Zero Sun SPF50

This sunscreen is designed for your face and does an amazing job at protecting oily skin from harmful UV rays and scorching sun. By the time I tried it I lost all the hope in finding a good quality sunscreen that would not be responsible for my make-up gliding off my face like a melted ice-cream.

It was a blind buy that I’ve repurchased twice this year already and I’m almost out of this tube. I have oily skin and the Sebum Zero formulation does excellent things for my skin. It does leave a light white’ish cast on my skin which is not a problem since my make-up applies like a magnet over it. Downsides: not waterproof. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!

2. Missha All-around Safe Block Kids Sun Mousse

Another blind buy that landed to my list of favorites! I use it whenever I go for a walk with my daughter and seeing the latest weather it is pretty much daily. I initially bought it for my babygirl and once I saw how easily it goes on I started using it on myself. Once you push on the dispenser you see a foamy solution that is easily absorbed by the skin and leaves no sticky nor white residue.

What made me fall in love with this particular product is that I do not get any yellow stains from this sunscreen om my white clothes. Plus it dries matte! It may seem expensive but it lasts you forever and the scent on this one is very light and fresh. Out of 3 products this is so far my favorite. I used it on my face too and worked pretty well on me. Downsides: not waterproof.

3. Biotherm Wet or Dry Skin – Melting Sun Fluid Face & Body SPF 30

This sunscreen is my holy grail for going onto vacations that involve aquatic activities. Waterpark, beach, pool, you name it. It can be applied over wet and dry skin and provides an amazing protection. Ii is very easy to spread out over your skin and is not easily washed off even by the salty and chlorinated water. Not sure if it comes in other SPF other than 30.

I’ve used in my trip to Cape Verde (not too far from the equatorial line) and it was plenty for my skin not to be baked alive. On the opposite I was left with a nice  bronzy glow 🙂 Downside: leaves a oily-type finish on your skin so careful with wearing clothes over it.

If you are picky about your sunscreen, the above mentioned products are definitely worth trying out. Each of them has a easy and fast application, they offer a great protection and all of them are extremely simple in use.

My experience:

The Time Revolution Night Repair Science Activator Ampoule is a wonderful product if your skin needs extra moisture. What stuns me the most is how good it is at calming the redness of my skin. My skin feels smooth to the touch and is very supple thanks to this wonderful ampoule.

A lot of people compare it to the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Sychronized recovery complex II. I personally think that MISSHA’s creation is way better than  the one made by Estée Lauder. Virtually consistency and color wise they are identical. Ingredient wise MISSHA trumps the EL serum in trifold. That is also noticeable by my skin.

I apply this serum before going to bed. That way it stays put on my skin for several hours and when I wake up my skin is feeling and looking amazing!  I do notice a big difference when I sometimes skip it in my evening routine. I Sometimes mix it with my emulsion if it it very hot outside. That gives me a little bit more oomph for during the day and my skin doesn’t feel dry by the end of the day.

Overall this is an amazing skin care product and does wonders for my skin in terms of brightening and evening my skin tone, reducing redness, smoothing out the rough patches of skin that I sometimes get in the winter. On top of that it makes my skin as firm as it gets when you hit your 30’s. It is a total “love, love, love” product of mine. I do have one issue with it. The applicator pipette is smaller than in the EL serum and I need to use 1,5 pumps of this serum to cover my entire face. I would appreciate it a lot if the packaging would be updated.

+ Better alternative for more expensive EL’s Advanced Night Repair serum
+ Paraben, sulfate and alcohol free formula
+ Contains skin brightening, anti-ageing, acne fighting, wound healing ingredients
+ Lovely consistency that spreads out evenly
+ Light pleasant natural fragrance

– Pipette picks up little product, a bigger size would be nicer. A pump would be even better!
– Packaging looks outdated
