My experience:
it looks like there is only essence inside

This mask is made of something that I’ve never  ever seen before in other sheet masks. The consistency of the hydrogel is less dense making it very fragile yet most effective masks in my entire experience of masking. I’ve fell in love with the toner from this brand and I’ve decided to expand my horizons towards the masks as they did seem to deliver good results for other people.

First of all, the scent of all of the Whamisa hydrogel masks are heavenly. This particular Organic Seeds & Rice Fermented Hydrogel Mask had the mildest fragrance of all three. The ingredient list is the bomb! Everything is natural and organic and EWG certified. Of course there is a huge price tag attached to the “all organic” tag but it is wort it to at least try the mask once in your life to see how well it performs. I slipped my whishlist note to my Santa already and these are on the nr 1 place in the list for coming Christmas.

contents

The hydrogel itself is very translucent and has the same color as the essence. It is a 2-part mask which ensures a great fit for every face shape. To me it felt like the forehead area could be a bit longer because there was approximately 2 cm stripe of uncovered skin left. I could live with that but some of you may not like it so much. It is a lot of money to pay and you do expect great fitting product.

Application time was 40 minutes for me! Very impressive and I felt like this mask could still be left on for another 10 or so minutes easily. My skin was left calmed down, it was seemingly brighter and felt super soft to the touch. I didn’t feel like there was need for more moisture but just in case I’ve applied my Whamisa lotion to pack all the goodness under a protective layer. The best changes in my skin appeared the next day. I’ve produced very little oil through-ought the day and I’ve gotten tons of compliments that I looked very glowy. I agree, I was glowy from within rather than from the surface oils. Very pleasant experience.

brightening effects are super noticeable with this one

Oh, before I forget. The essence is very slippery so do lay down and enjoy the time you get to use this gorgeous product on the skin!!!!It is definitely worth the price when it comes to the sensory experience with this product. I highly recommend this one in particular.

+ Amazing packaging and formulations
+ Unique organic hydrogel sheet

+ Plumping and rejuvinationg on the skin

Blithe Blue Abalone mask

Blithe Blue Abalone mask is my nr 1 favorite when it comes to deeply hydrating my skin. I tend to use it in the hotter days or after flight because it restores my skin’s moisture barrier in 20 minutes.

front
back
Claims from the manufacturer:

A ultra-hydrating sheet mask that’s safe for sensitive skin. The Abalone Sheet Mask contains abalone extract with minerals, proteins, and amino acids to protect even the most sensitive skin. Fructan and marine collagen help to make skin soft and moist by controlling oil balance.

Directions from the manufacturer:

After cleansing, apply the mask to your face and leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Take off the mask gently and let the remaining essence absorb into your face by lightly patting it.

Ingredients:

Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Niacinamide, Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Carbomer, Sea Cucumber Extract, Allantoin, Potassium Hydroxide, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Xanthan Gum, Disodium Edta, Ethyl Ascorbyl Ether, Pancratium Maritimum (Sea Daffodil) Extract

My experience:

Blithe Blue Abalone mask is a truly great hydrating mask for weekly maintenance. The mask is made of high quality fabric and has an essence that doesn’t drip much. The essence is transparant and has a little grip to it. Great formulation that doesn’t leave a tacky film on my face. There is also plenty essence left in the bag to cover my entire legs!

The sheet fit and adherence are also superb! I can multitask easily when I wear this mask. I usually apply it for 20 minutes and just do my household chores or sit and drink coffee and read a book when I’m in the mood for it.  After those 20 minutes my skin is transformed from being a dry prune back into being a wonderful juicy grape 🙂 It is hydrated, plumpy, bright, calmed and much more.

applied

I would not advise to use this mask before yo want to use your make-up. It won’t sit over the essence that is left on the skin. Try using it before going to sleep and enjoy the fresh and glowing skin in the morning instead! Absolute love of mine that I can’t stop recommending to anyone. It is great for all the skin types suffering from dehydrated/dry/flaky skin. The scent on this is so light that you could tolerate it without any problems even if you have a super sensitive skin.

Summary:

Pros:
+ Paraben, sulfate and alcohol free formulation
+ Excellent long lasting hydration results
+ Great fit and adherence of the sheet
+ Claims met for 100%
+ Contains Niacinamide

Innisfree It’s real Shea Butter Squeeze mask

It’s real Shea Butter Squeeze mask by Innisfree has one of the lightest essences from the entire series of these masks and it leaves your skin hydrated and acts like a good make-up base.

front
back
Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ A deep moisturizing mask made with shea butter! The soft shea butter deeply hydrates dry skin from within.
❇ Jeju green complex- The Jeju green complex consists of green tea, tangerine, cactus, camellia leaves, and orchids to keep your skin healthy.
❇ Triple-layered sheet technology. This triple-layer sheet has a long-lasting moisturizing effect so that the essence can gradually be absorbed into the skin.

Directions from the manufacturer:

After washing your face, gently apply toner on your face to even out your skin texture. Then, apply the mask over your entire face, avoiding your eye and lip areas. Remove the mask after 10-20 minutes. Remove the mask and gently pat your face to allow the remaining essence to absorb into your skin.

Ingredients:

Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Dimethicone, PEG-100 Stearate, Carbomer, Shea Butter(20mg), Xanthan Gum, Ethylhexylglycerin, Potassium Hydroxide, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Sodium Hyaluronate, Prickly Pear Extract, Camellia Leaf Extract, The green Tea Extract, Orchid Extract, Tangerine Peel Extract, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance

My experience:
contents

This mask with shea butter has a nice packaging that is easy to open and is made of the same material as the rest from the same line. The sheet is made of felt-type fabric and is quite absorbing despite it’s thinness. The essence in this mask is scented and transparant. Very unexpected for me as I am used that nearly all of the shea butter masks I’ve tried have an opaque white or cream-like essence. The light fragrance of this essence is resembling freshly cut flowers and grass. It is completely transparant, watery and colorless. It is not sticky nor oily either which is a great bonus.

The downside of this mask for me is the fit of the sheet. No surprise there, the entire series is cut in the same factory and just doesn’t suit my face much. This time I was too lazy to cut it to fit around my eyes and nose so you can actually see the true fit on the picture on the right. I kept it on for 15 minutes and tapped in the residue essence. I usually get max 20 minute of wear time with this entire series of sheet masks before the sheet starts getting dry. On hotter days it is noticeably shorter and the maximum wear time is down to 15 minutes.

applied

I was surprised that a shea butter mask leaves no residue on the skin. The essence sinks into my skin within 5 minutes and there is certainly no trace of it left on the surface.Very good news for me as I can use it prior to doing my make-up. The mask provided me with moderate hydration which I didn’t mind at all considerwing we had 30 degrees Celsius outside. I am considering buying more of the shea butter masks in the future after I get to use the entire range from Innisfree.

Summary:

Pros:
+ Paraben, Sulfate and Alcohol free formula
+ Suitable for all skin types
+ Rich in antioxidants and plan extracts
+ Good adherence of the sheet
+ Light neutral fragrance
+ Good for daily use and if you have dry patches on the skin

Cons:
– Contains perfume (last on the list)
– Contains silicone
– Fit of the sheet could be better

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: Not available in EU webshops
❇ Internationally: Available at innisfree, amazon and other webshops
❇ Price is +/- 2€ per sheet

From all of the new sleeping packs that I’ve been testing I reach for this mask the most. It has a very nice consistency and very natural scent that knocks me out into a good sleep.

Once I apply it onto my face it transforms into serum-like gel which is very easy to spread over the face and you only need a little of product to cover the entire face. The fragrance is the bomb in this one! Very light and airy and doesn’t cause any headache.

Beauty Trip Tokyo Seaweed and Omega 3 mask by Spa Life

Beauty Trip Tokyo Seaweed and Omega 3 mask by Spa Life is one of my al time favorites from all of my sheet masks. The essence contained in this beauty is just perfect for my skin!

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ One of the greatest treasures of Asia’s ocean is seaweed, a natural anti inflammatory and toxin eliminator that soothes and refreshes the skin.
❇ Omega 3 helps energize skin cells.
❇ Made in Korea.

Directions from the manufacturer:

Open package and simply pat mask on face, leave for 20 minutes. Gently remove the mask and lightly massage any remaining serum into your skin. Do not rinse. Discard the mask after single use.

Ingredients:

Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Methylpropanediol, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Algae Extract, Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Seed Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Natto Gum, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Panthenol, Allantoin, Erythritol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Tocopheryl Acetate, PEG-14M, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Xanthan Gum, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Disodium EDTA, 1,2-Hexanediol, Propanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, Fragrance (Parfum)

My experience:

The first time I’ve purchased this mask was approximately three years ago. It instantly turned into my favorite because of what it does to my skin. There are other sheet masks in the Beauty Trip series from the same brand which I also tried over the years but the Seaweed and Omega 3 one remains my favorite! I do have one problem with it. The sheet of this mask has a moderate fit and adherence to my face. If this would have been one of those thin type of masks it would be my  nr. 1 mask of all times.

The serum in this mask is very watery and transparant. There is a light scent to it and to me it smells like some of those fermented ingredients that are so good for the skin. I do get the seaweed vibe from it too.

I keep this mask on for full 20 minutes and use the leftover essence to keep the skin on my knees and elbows moisturized. Yet again, it works like magic! Once the the sheet is off my face I pat the leftover essence in and let my face air dry. I do feel that there is a residue left on my skin but it is not oily nor tacky. I would not advice to use this sheet mask before you plan to apply make-up, it would not hold. Instead try using it right before going to sleep.

Every time I do this mask my skin is somehow more toned up, wrinkles are smoothed and overall appearance is more revitalized and healthy looking.  My skin is still looking excellent the next morning. I do feel that when I use it before going to bed my skin starts to retain moisture better on the next day and I get less sebum and oil. I am very satisfied with these masks and would advise you to try them out if you have oily acne prone skin!

Pros:
+ Alcohol, paraben and sulfate free formulation
+ Contains vitamine E, allantoin, shea butter, panthenol and witch hazel
+ Works wonders on my oily skin
+ Great at smoothing out wrinkles and plumping skin
+ Richly moisturizing
+ Anti-microbal ingredients

Cons:
– Sheet quality  and fit could be better
– Contains fragrance
– Hard to find in EU stores

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: I stock up on mine when they are available in TKmaxx shops
❇ Internationally: Available at spalife, amazon and walmart
❇ Price online is 6$ per sheet or 36$ for a 6-pack. If you manage to get these at the TKmaxx, they are about 8€ per box of 6.

Compressed face masks by Skin.goo Australia

It’s time for some DIY! Today I’m reviewing a super cool product that I discovered some time ago at the local TKmaxx store. I am talking about the compressed face masks by skin.goo Australia. I’ve used several sheets for DIY masks in the past and to be honest these are the best!

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ For a truly detoxifying and refreshing experience, these compressed charcoal face masks expand to a full size face mask.
❇ 25 pieces
❇ 100% Vegan
❇ Paraben free
❇ Sulfate free

Directions from the manufacturer:

Remove plastic seal. Add your favorite moisturizer, serum or toner into our compressed face mask. The compressed mask will absorb your serum and expand to a full size face mask. Leave face mask on for 10-15 minutes. Remove and pat skin dry.

Ingredients:

Not specified on the pack but I presume it is just dehydrated cotton.

My experience:

So what is  a compressed sheet mask? Well it is literally a sheet for the mask that is compressed to a size of the pill (large pill). It comes in a sealed capsule where you can pour your favorite serum, liquid moisturizer, toner or even fruit juice in order to make it your own unique sheet mask. FYI all of the mentioned ingredients can be mixed as well for one super-mask, but we’ll get to it later.

Each jar with masks comes with 25 pods and costs 5,99€. The assorted box containes both white (cotton) and black (bamboo charcoal) sheets. There is also one that has only the black sheets in it. So as they say, whatever floats your boat!

I usually open the capsule, take out the mask, fill up the capsule to the brim with the “juice” of my choice and put the compressed mask back into the capsule. Today the juice I chose was my new love – Super Aqua Mini Pore Tightening Toner. It is packed with mint extract and some other great ingredients and makes my skin feel wonderful! In the past I’ve used the witch hazel toner and my Time Revolution Night Repair ampoule that both worked great with these DIY sheets.

After mask has soaked everything that I added to the capsule I simply unfold it and apply onto my face. The sheet is very soft and elastic and adheres well to my face. The mask can be kept for 15-20 minutes without showing the signs of drying out. After I peeled off the sheet my skin was feeling cool, fresh and tight. Well last part was due to the tightening toner. Each time you use the ingredients of your choice, you will get the results based on the product you use.

Tip 1: If  you use a thicker consistency serum add some distilled or mineral water first. That you will soften up the mask. Add the serum or the moisturizer as a last part. That way you don’t use up all your precious serum but you’ll get all it’s benefits from the mask.

Tip 2: make it with the after-sun lotion if you have sun burned skin. 100% cooling and repairing for the skin.

Pros:
+ Hygienic in use due to the sealed individual packaging
+ Great quality cotton
+ Affordable price
+ Versatile in use
+ Great for vacations! You can apply after sun cream into it turning this into a soothing repairing mask
+ Black sheet mask makes you look like ninja 🙂

Cons:
– Hard to find witin the EU shops
– Capsule could be a bit larger to fit more liquid in it

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: TKmaxx shops
❇ Internationally:I could only find the kits on the skin.goo website. These come with mask capsules and + coconut water or Rosehip water
❇ Price: I paid 5,99€ for the set of 25 masks

MISSHA Embo Gels: Part 2 Vital-Bomb mask

Today I am reviewing the 2nd hydrogel sheet mask from the brand MISSHA which is the Vital-bomb embo gel mask.

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ Gel Masks with embossed surface.
❇ Special care for their dry and fatigued skin.
❇ No mesh type of transparent hydro gel is adhered to the skin without irritating and delivers active substances perfectly into your skin.
❇ Containing Multi Vita Complex and Vital Complex which consists of Grapefruit Extract, it makes your skin vitalized.

Directions from the manufacturer:

After washing the face, prepare the skin with toner. Remove films from the both side of sheets after opening the pouch. Placing the embo side onto the skin, spread evenly the upper part from the eyes and the lower part from the lips. Leave it for 20-40 minutes and remove masks. Pat leftover essence lightly to be fully absorbed.

Ingredients:

Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Agar, Carrageenan, Mannan, Dextrin, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Betaine, Allantoin, Panthenol, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Centelia Asiatica Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract Polygonium Cuspidatum Root Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Litorice) Root Extact, Camellia Sinsensis Leaf Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Chamomillia Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Sodium Polyacrylate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Gaprylyl Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Ethylhyxylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance

My experience:

The mask itself is translucent and has one side that is smooth and the other side is ribbed or as they say – embossed.  Each mask from this series is made of the same material. I took the mask out of it’s pack and removed the safety film preventing the folded sides of the mask from sticking to one another. I applied both halves of the mask with the embossed side onto my face. To me this mask felt more fragranced than the Nourishing-bomb. I immediately smelled the licorice in it (one ingredient in the entire perfume industry that I truly dislike). If you like the scent of citrus and licorice, this one is definitely for you!

I kept the sheet on for approximately 30 minutes. By the end of the wearing time my skin felt cooled down and I felt that my skin was getting tighter on my cheeks. After removing the mask off my face and waiting for the essence to fully absorb my face was yet again super-smooth and well hydrated. I’ve noticed that my pores in the T-zone got visually smaller and my skin was more bouncy than before I did the mask. There was no sticky residue left on my skin.  Since today was a sunny day I just put on my 50 SPF sunscreen and mascara on. By the end of the day my pores were back to their normal size but my skin was still as bouncy and hydrated as after applying the Vital-bomb mask in the morning hours.

Same as the Nourishing-bomb, the Vital-bomb preformed well on me. The biggest results for me were the long-term hydration and plumping effect of this mask. On the downside I am not so fond of the fragrance on this one. We’ll see what other 3 masks will bring. In the end of the series, in my 5th post I will let you know which one(s) is my favorite from the entire line.

Pros:
+ Paraben, sulfate and alcohol free formula
+ Extremely good fit due to 2 parts of the mask
+ Remarkable adherence to the face-no need to lay down with this one, it adheres better to the face the longer it’s on
+ Hydrating and plumping effect on my skin that lasts me all day
+ Smooths down the imperfections in dry areas of the skin
+ No sticky residue left after removing the mask
+ Fragrance is the last ingredient on the list

Cons:
– Still more pricy than the regular cotton/bamboo sheet mask
– Contains fragrance if you are sensitive to it
– I personally don’t like the scent of this mask that much

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: missha.nl, bbcreamshop.eu and littlewonderland.nl
❇ Internationally: Available at ebay, yesstyle.com and many other webshops
❇ Price is ranging from 2,90-3,65€ per mask
