My experience:
it looks like there is only essence inside

This mask is made of something that I’ve never  ever seen before in other sheet masks. The consistency of the hydrogel is less dense making it very fragile yet most effective masks in my entire experience of masking. I’ve fell in love with the toner from this brand and I’ve decided to expand my horizons towards the masks as they did seem to deliver good results for other people.

First of all, the scent of all of the Whamisa hydrogel masks are heavenly. This particular Organic Seeds & Rice Fermented Hydrogel Mask had the mildest fragrance of all three. The ingredient list is the bomb! Everything is natural and organic and EWG certified. Of course there is a huge price tag attached to the “all organic” tag but it is wort it to at least try the mask once in your life to see how well it performs. I slipped my whishlist note to my Santa already and these are on the nr 1 place in the list for coming Christmas.

contents

The hydrogel itself is very translucent and has the same color as the essence. It is a 2-part mask which ensures a great fit for every face shape. To me it felt like the forehead area could be a bit longer because there was approximately 2 cm stripe of uncovered skin left. I could live with that but some of you may not like it so much. It is a lot of money to pay and you do expect great fitting product.

Application time was 40 minutes for me! Very impressive and I felt like this mask could still be left on for another 10 or so minutes easily. My skin was left calmed down, it was seemingly brighter and felt super soft to the touch. I didn’t feel like there was need for more moisture but just in case I’ve applied my Whamisa lotion to pack all the goodness under a protective layer. The best changes in my skin appeared the next day. I’ve produced very little oil through-ought the day and I’ve gotten tons of compliments that I looked very glowy. I agree, I was glowy from within rather than from the surface oils. Very pleasant experience.

SKINFOOD Seaweed Marine Food Gel Mask

SKINFOOD Seaweed Marine Food Gel Mask is part of the 5 hydrogel masks from the Marine food series launched by SKINFOOD couple of years ago.  They are not easy to find in EU even though they are of an excellent quality for people with all skin types.

To me this SKINFOOD Seaweed Hydrogel mask is a good skin refreshing and hydrating mask that is a good make-up base for the day. The mask comes in gorgeous blue packaging that is easy to open. Unfortunately the back side is all in Korean so no idea what it says there. Inside the pack there are 2 pieces of hydrogel (for upper and lower halves of the face). Each piece is protected by 2 pieces of plastic shielding, one thinner and one hard one. The scent of the essence is amazing. It seems like the same type of fragrance is used in scenting each and every mask from this range. The fragrance is floral and marine at the same time. Very yummy.

Essence is transparant and semi-liquid ensuring that this mask won’t glide of your face. The adherence and fit are as good as they can get. The luxuriously thick gel hugs my face in the right places. The eye cutouts are also well positioned and have a nice cut so that the edges of the mask don’t irritate the area close to my eyes. There is a thin sheet of fabric embedded in the gel and sometimes they may cause irritation in the areas with sensitive skin.

After 40 minutes my skin is supercharged with moisture. What is very lovely about this mask is that it leaves little to no tacky residue, same as the sea cucumber and jellyfish masks. My skin is fresh, extremely hydrated and cooled down.  Loving this mask series a lot. Would I recommend it? Yes, if you have oily and dehydrated skin. This version and the seaweed one are most suitable for you. If your skin is more on the normal-dry side, get the oyster or sea cucumber mask.

Summary:

Pros:
+  Paraben, Sulfate, Silicone, Alcohol free formula
+ Super fit and adherence
+ Good quality hydrogel
+ Skin hydrating results are very prominent
+ Beautiful packaging and fragrance
+ Comfortable application

Cons:
– Hard to get in EU
– Info on the pack all in Korean
– Contains fragrance

Skinfood Real Tea Gel Mask Lavender

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇A real flower tea gel mask containing lavender petal powder and lavender flower extract that moisturizes skin and promotes relaxation.

❇ Lavender is excellent for sterilization, antiseptic, and relaxing purposes. The mask also contains peppermint, chamomile, and rosemary leaves.

Directions from the manufacturer:

Extract mask and tightly apply on facial skin, following the contours of your face. After about 10-15 minutes, remove the sheet and pat face to absorb the remaining essence. Apply any remaining essence in the pouch to your neck and body.

Ingredients:

Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Ceratonia Siliqua Gum, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan) Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Artemisia Princeps Leaf Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, 1,2- Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Glycerin, Citrus Junos Fruit Extract, Lactobacillus Ferment, Ricimus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Powder, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Butylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Extract, Butylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Phenyl Trimethicone, Allantoin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Adenosine, Disodium Edta, Fragrance, Water, Potassium Hydroxide

My experience:

The Real Tea Gel Mask Lavender by Skinfood brand is one of those masks that contains pieces of the shredded plant in the gel. I like it a lot but it is great not only because it looks nice but because it does something amazing to my skin!

The sheet of this mask is  made of hydrogel, mesh and plant particles and is soaked in a lot of essence that has light tea brew color to it. The essence is completely transparent, runny and smells of lavender. The scent of this is heavenly. I do not appreciate lavender in body products but when it comes to the skin care I like it a lot. The hydrogel is protected by 2 layers of plastic,  transparent and white ones. The mask is split into 2 pieces for the bottom and top parts of the face.

The fit of the sheet is good for my face frame. You see it very often that the hydrogel masks are nearly always fitting any type of the face better than a regular cotton or felt fabric sheet. I usually apply the bottom piece first so that the top part will overlap it preventing it from sliding down my face. Overall the way this mask is cut reminds me of the MISSHA Super Aqua Cell Renew Snail Hydro Gel.

Once the mask is on my face it tends to move around for first 5 minutes but then it adheres and I can not even move it with my fingers until the time I have to peel it off my face. The average wear time with this one is 20-30 minutes. After that the edges start drying out and poke the already sensitive skin under my eyes. Once the mask is off I am left with baby smooth skin witha trace of stickiness. This disappears after 20 minutes and my skin is looking glowy, radiant and brightened. The texture spots are as good as gone. I do not have any need to hydrate my face but I still apply my moisturizer over my face. Overall a great mask to have for those days when your skin is dry and dull. This one definitely saves the day!

Pros:
+ Paraben, Sulfate and Alcohol free
+ Contains Niacinamide and Lactobacillus Ferment
+ Amazing fragrance
+ Pleasant fit and adherence of the sheet
+ Great at brightening and hydrating skin
+ Evens out skin tone and calm irritated spots
+ Good for all skin types
+ Cruelty free

Cons:
– Contains fragrance
– Has a mesh layer that sometimes irritates my skin (around the edges of the mask)
– Runny essence

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: boozyshop.nl
❇ Internationally: Available at skinfood, sokoglam, amazon and many other webshops
❇ Price is 4,95€ per sheet at Boozyshop

MISSHA Embo Gels: Part 3 Relaxing-Bomb mask

This is the part 3 of the MISSHA embo-gel series that I am currently reviewing.  It consists of 5 hydrogel masks that are very affordable and so far  working great on my skin! Today’s mask of the day is the Relaxing-Bomb mask. I chose it today because my face has burned in the sun because I was running kids party outside and forgot to slap on my sunscreen 🙁

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ Gel Masks with embossed surface for an extra of aktive essence!
❇ Special care for their dry and fatigued skin.
❇ No mesh type of transparent hydro gel is adhered to the skin without irritating and delivers active substances perfectly into your skin.
❇ Containing Relaxing Complex which consists of Aloe Vera Extract, Pinus Densiflora Leaf Extract and Chamomile Extract for soothing the skin.

Directions from the manufacturer:

After washing the face, prepare the skin with toner. Remove films from the both side of sheets after opening the pouch. Placing the embo side onto the skin, spread evenly the upper part from the eyes and the lower part from the lips. Leave it for 20-40 minutes and remove masks. Pat leftover essence lightly to be fully absorbed.

Ingredients:

Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Agar, Carrageenan, Mannan, Dextrin, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Betaine, Allantoin, Panthenol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Pinus Densiflora Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract, Sodium Polyacrylate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Gaprylyl Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Ethylhyxylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance

My experience:

So far this mask is my nr. 1 favorite from three that i’ve tried. Since I have 2 more to go , at the end of the 5th post I will put them in the order from 1 to 5 according to my personal preference and based on how they worked for me.

The mask itself is translucent and has one side that is smooth and the other side is ribbed or as they say – embossed.  Each mask from this series is made of the same material. I took the mask out of it’s pack and removed the safety film preventing the folded sides of the mask from sticking to one another.  This mask has the loveliest fresh herbal scent to it that is very calming due to the added note of lavender!

I applied both halves of the mask with the embossed side onto my face and let it do it’s magic. I kept the sheet on for half an hour and was enjoying every minute of it. By the end of the wearing time my skin was cooled down and didn’t feel irritated anymore. After removing the mask my face was yet again super-smooth and well hydrated and what amazed me the most, all of my redness was gone! “Wawaweewa very nice!” as Borat used to say 🙂

A quick sum up: There was no sticky residue left on my skin, same as with other 2 masks. This mask has impressed me with a capital letter I. The biggest result for me was that it tremendously reduced the red hue of my sun-burnt face and left it cool for hours!

Pros:
+ Paraben, sulfate and alcohol free formula
+ Extremely good fit due to 2 parts of the mask
+ Remarkable adherence to the face-no need to lay down with this one, it adheres better to the face the longer it’s on
+ Hydrating and extreme soothing effect on my skin
+ Excellent at reducing redness of the skin
+ No sticky residue left after removing the mask
+ Superb scent even though fragrance is the last ingredient on the list

Cons:
– Still more pricy than the regular cotton/bamboo sheet mask
– Contains fragrance if you are sensitive to it

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: bbcreamshop.eu and missha.nl
❇ Internationally: Available at yesstyle, koreadepart and other webshops
❇ Price is 3,65€ per one mask

MISSHA Embo Gels: Part 2 Vital-Bomb mask

Today I am reviewing the 2nd hydrogel sheet mask from the brand MISSHA which is the Vital-bomb embo gel mask.

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ Gel Masks with embossed surface.
❇ Special care for their dry and fatigued skin.
❇ No mesh type of transparent hydro gel is adhered to the skin without irritating and delivers active substances perfectly into your skin.
❇ Containing Multi Vita Complex and Vital Complex which consists of Grapefruit Extract, it makes your skin vitalized.

Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Agar, Carrageenan, Mannan, Dextrin, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Betaine, Allantoin, Panthenol, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Centelia Asiatica Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract Polygonium Cuspidatum Root Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Litorice) Root Extact, Camellia Sinsensis Leaf Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Chamomillia Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Sodium Polyacrylate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Gaprylyl Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Ethylhyxylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance

My experience:

The mask itself is translucent and has one side that is smooth and the other side is ribbed or as they say – embossed.  Each mask from this series is made of the same material. I took the mask out of it’s pack and removed the safety film preventing the folded sides of the mask from sticking to one another. I applied both halves of the mask with the embossed side onto my face. To me this mask felt more fragranced than the Nourishing-bomb. I immediately smelled the licorice in it (one ingredient in the entire perfume industry that I truly dislike). If you like the scent of citrus and licorice, this one is definitely for you!

I kept the sheet on for approximately 30 minutes. By the end of the wearing time my skin felt cooled down and I felt that my skin was getting tighter on my cheeks. After removing the mask off my face and waiting for the essence to fully absorb my face was yet again super-smooth and well hydrated. I’ve noticed that my pores in the T-zone got visually smaller and my skin was more bouncy than before I did the mask. There was no sticky residue left on my skin.  Since today was a sunny day I just put on my 50 SPF sunscreen and mascara on. By the end of the day my pores were back to their normal size but my skin was still as bouncy and hydrated as after applying the Vital-bomb mask in the morning hours.

Same as the Nourishing-bomb, the Vital-bomb preformed well on me. The biggest results for me were the long-term hydration and plumping effect of this mask. On the downside I am not so fond of the fragrance on this one. We’ll see what other 3 masks will bring. In the end of the series, in my 5th post I will let you know which one(s) is my favorite from the entire line.

Pros:
+ Paraben, sulfate and alcohol free formula
+ Extremely good fit due to 2 parts of the mask
+ Remarkable adherence to the face-no need to lay down with this one, it adheres better to the face the longer it’s on
+ Hydrating and plumping effect on my skin that lasts me all day
+ Smooths down the imperfections in dry areas of the skin
+ No sticky residue left after removing the mask
+ Fragrance is the last ingredient on the list

Cons:
– Still more pricy than the regular cotton/bamboo sheet mask
– Contains fragrance if you are sensitive to it
– I personally don’t like the scent of this mask that much

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: missha.nl, bbcreamshop.eu and littlewonderland.nl
❇ Internationally: Available at ebay, yesstyle.com and many other webshops
❇ Price is ranging from 2,90-3,65€ per mask
