My experience:
textured cotton

The container of the Organic Fruits Peeling Finger Mitt Sebum Care pads has 25 pads that are entirely soaked in the peeling solution. These pads are unique to the brand and are something in between the famous NEOGEN and MISSHA peeling pads. Whamisa pads are made of 2-layered soft embossed cotton sheets and have a similar embossed pattern as in MISSHA peeling pads.  At the same time, the way these pads are made resembles the NEOGEN ones. The exception is that these do not have a gauze layer for extra mechanical exfoliation making them super suitable for people with sensitive skin who doesn’t want to have that extra scrubby feeling on the skin.

In terms of scent these pads have a mild herbal fragrance to them and I can distinctively smell the apple seed oil. Overall it is similar to the Apple sebum treatment from this brand. You do smell a trace of alcohol in these as well.  The size of the pads is similar to other brands and they are thoroughly soaked in the peeling solution. There is no dripping and you can use the pad on the rough skin areal of the body as well.

I usually take one pad an use one side of the mitt to exfoliate. Then I turn it around and use the clean side to remove the last traces of dirt and grime off my face. With the same side I proceed to exfoliating my knees and elbows to keep the dry skin there at bay. Once I’m done I just rinse my face and proceed with my skincare routine wether it is AM or PM.

I am using these pads every other day and went through half of the packaging. For the results so far, I’ve seen that my skin is looking way better than before. The surface of the skin is definitely more smooth and less textured than before. I can’t say wether it is only the pads or the fact that all of the Whamisa products in my current routine are doing so great that I barely have any blemishes appearing on my skin.

side 2
side 1

Anyhow, straight after use you will feel how soft and smooth your skin is. Also try doing the 7-skin method after those peeling pads and you will probably notice that all the layers are absorbing much faster and the freshly exposed new layer of the skin remains super hydrated, especially on the next day. If I would have to make a choice based on the performance of the pads after one month’s use, I’d  rank it as follows: Whamisa, NEOGEN, MISSHA. Simply because I see most results in terms of softness, hydration and less blemishes from Whamisa. Overall, I’m super happy with these pads even though the price is on the steeper end when compared to similar pads.

Summary:

Pros:
+ Beautiful packaging
+ Soft double sided cotton mitts are gentle on the skin
+ Rich in naturally occurring acids and skin softening ingredients
+ Immediate smoothing result after one use (both face and body)
+ Skin smoothing, de-texturizing, brightening and hydrating results on my skin within long term use
+ Reducing breakouts on my skin

Cons:
– 25 pads in a pack seems to be so little
– Price is very steep when compared to similar pads from other brands
– Contain alcohol, may not be suitable for skin that reacts to ethanol

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: honeysu.be and littlewonderland.nl
❇ Internationally: Available at amazon, whamisa.co.uk, glowrecipe and plenty other online retailers

Dr. Althea Water Glow Skin Renewal Hydrogel Mask

Dr. Althea Water Glow Skin Renewal Hydrogel Mask is one of my very favorite hydrogel masks that battle the dryness of the skin in a heartbeat. They are quite pricey and not easy to get in NL but luckily they occasionally appear in TKmaxx and then I get my chance to stock up on these beauties.

front
back
Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ Dr Althea Water Glow Skin Renewal Hydrogel Mask helps relieve sensitive skin by hydrating skin while tightening, whitening and relieve inflamation. It also helps reduce wrinkle and spots.

Directions from the manufacturer:

Open the pouch and take out a mask. Remove films on the both side and attach to face for 20~40 minutes, then remove the mask.

Ingredients:

Water, Glycerin, Caprylic/ Capric Triglyceride, Niacinamide, Ceratonia Siliqua Gum, Polysorbate 60, Chondrus Crispus Powder, Lactobacillus Ferment, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Artemisia Princeps Leaf Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Citrus Junos Fruit Extract, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Allantoin, Ethylhexylglcerin, Adenosine, Disodium EDTA Butylene Glycol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Bellis Perennis (Daisy) Flower Extract, Lilium Candidum Flower Extract, Mirabilis Jalapa Extract, Sambucus Nigra Flower Extract, Nelumbium Speciosum Flower Extract, Convallaria Majalis Extract, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine Flower) Extract, Paeonia Albiflora Flower Extract, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Hyacinthus Orientalis (Hyacinth) Flower Extract, Harpagophytum Procumbens Root Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Agave Americana Leaf Extract, Rhodiola Sacra Root Extract, Vaccinium Vitis-Idaea Leaf Extract, Leontopodium Alpinum Extract, Alcohol, Potassium Hydroxide, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Geranium Maculatum Oil, Propolis Extract, Snail Secretion Filtrate, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Leucojum Aestivum Bulb Extract, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil

My experience:
contents

Dr. Althea’s Water Glow Skin Renewal Hydrogel Mask contains plenty premium ingredients  and is extremely pleasant in use. I usually stock up on the 5-pc boxes of it when I can. The essence used in this hydrogel mask is very gelatinous and transparant and smells of white flowers. Very relaxing and pleasant sensory experience whiffing those beautiful fumes. As the name states, this is a hydrogel mask. There is a mesh embedded into the gel so that the mask won’t rip in pieces when taking it out of the package. Some people find that the mesh is irritating the skin, which I can confirm (Nature Republic, you know you have it). Luckily Dr. Althea mask has no issue with the mesh as it seems to be the soft kind.

applied

The fit and shape of the hydrogel mask is great for my face shape. It fits me like a glove! Composed of 2 pieces of milky-white hydrogel, this mask has 2 sets of plastic protectors shielding hydrogel from adhering to each other. Once applied it doesn’t slide down my face so I can run around the house while masking which is always a good thing for me. I get full 40 minute wear out of it and it is still damp upon removal. The leftover serum sinks fast into my skin and I am left with glowy and minimally tacky skin. The tackiness gets less in about 30 minutes so I don’t have the need to rinse it off.

I Usually use this mask before going to sleep so I Apply my night cream or oil and go to bed. I do feel that using sleeping mask after this hydrogel is an overkill. Same with Whamisa hydrogel masks. My skin is radiant from within and hydrated on the next day. There are very little wrinkles present and I adore how smooth my skin feels like.

Summary:

Pros:
+ Paraben, Sulfate, Silicone free
+ Packed with Niacinamide, Allantoin, Adenosine and fermented ingredients
+ Extremely great for oily  and combination skin
+ Controls my oil production, very  long-lasting hydrating effects
+ Great fit and adherence of the hydrogel
+ Lovely fresh floral scent

Cons:
– Contains alcohol and fragrance
– May not be suitable for sensitive skin
– Mesh-type hydrogel
– Somewhat expensive

Where to buy:

❇ Internationally: Available at amazon and  yesstyle

TONYMOLY Megatox Bright Shot Ampoule Mask

TONYMOLY Megatox Bright Shot Ampoule Mask is rocking it with the fun syringe-like packaging. Some may fin it convenient to store, others not. I’m quite tolerant towards unique outer shell but of coarse my goal here is to go more in depth about the contents of this Megatox Bright Shot Ampoule Mask.

back
front
Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ Give your skin a shot of hydration with our Megatox Ampoule Mask! Just one shot will help to boost skin to the next level with our microcell sheet soaked in highly concentrated dermatologist-grade ampoule.
❇ Brightens the skin and combats dark spots with Glutathione, an antioxidant that rids the skin of free radicals and toxins that can lead to hyper-pigmentation.

Directions from the manufacturer:

Peel back the back of the packaging and unroll the sheet mask. Adhere the mask over the face and wait 15-20 mins for the ampoule to completely absorb into the skin. Remove the mask and pat the remaining ampoule into the skin.

Ingredients (from the packaging):

Water, Glycerin, Methylpropanediol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Trehalose, Polysorbate 20, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Allantoin, Disodium EDTA, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Fragrance, Sodium Hyaluronate, Butylene Glycol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Phenoxyethanol, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Panthenol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, Carbomer, Hydro-xyethylcellulose, Triethanolamine, Ethyl-hexylglycerin, Polysorbate 20, Fragrance

My experience:
contents

First of all the ingredients list threw me off by a mile. Original retailer information states all of the ingredients in different order. On the back of the pack the order is according to the EU standards but still there are six (last on the list) ingredients that repeat themselves. Not a promising start for a company pushing the ampoule shots for 7-9€ a pop.

The mask is rolled up in a plastic capsule in shape of a syringe. Very interesting concept but unfortunately not new. In my opinion it is handy for travel, yet not handy for storing at home in my mask box. Once the packaging is open you see that the sheet is almost translucent and the ampoule is filled to the brim with the fluid. Rolling out the mask and application can be troublesome as the sheet is very thin. What I do not like is that despite the light and airy sheet it was not shaping to my face much. Usually you would be able to pull a bit here, tuck a bit there and the adherence would be perfect. To my disappointment it is not the case here.

applied

The essence smells like a baby-powder. Fragrance of it has a medium potency. I could smell it throughout the entire wearing time but it was not an unpleasant scent. After 20 minutes I removed the mask and saw and felt that my face was plumped up. My skin is well hydrated and has a nice sheen to it though. After the essence has absorbed, I am left with no residue or tackiness on my skin. I would still not use this mask in the morning as it is an ampoule product which tends to work better overnight.

The greatest disappointment of the days was that I’ve gotten zero brightening on my skin. It also caused some milia type breakouts on my cheeks that have developed overnight. If you are looking for a good mask that will even out your skin tone and make your skin glow from within, this is not a product for you. If you are looking for a good hydration, you may consider trying this one out. Oh, almost forgot, one more thing –  the syringe shape container is not the most handy shape when you are trying to extract the remaining essence. I’ve had some difficulties and ended up throwing half of what’s left away because I didn’t plan to scoop all the nooks and crannies of the container.

Summary:

Pros:
+ Soothing and hydrating on my skin
+ Soft mask sheet
+ Good fit to my face frame
+ Rich in nourishing ingredients
+ Light inoffensive scent

Cons:
– Expencive for EU customers
– Hard to get the remaining essence out of the plastic container
– Sheet fabric is not flexible, hence lifts a lot around the nose
– Don’t see much brightening happening on my skin
– Contains fragrance
– Caused a break-out on my skin

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: boozyshop.nl and Bijenkorf
❇ Internationally: Available at tonymoly.us, beautybay, tonymoly.eu and other online stores
❇ Price varies between 7 and 9€ per one ampoule mask

WYT Oxygen AHA Bubble Peeling Mask by NEOGEN

WYT Oxygen AHA Bubble Peeling Mask by NEOGEN is a staple product of many and today I will review this sheet mask for you.

Claims from the manufacturer:

This Oxygen AHA Bubble Peeling Mask has an impressive skin clearing formula containing AHA and BHA that will suck out the dirt, clean the pores, and remove dead skin cells to leave the skin clear, smooth and glowing. Save yourself the manual exfoliation and deep cleansing headache as you sit back and watch the bubbles do your work!

Directions from the manufacturer:

1. After cleansing, retrieve the mask from the pouch and apply it on your face. Upon applying the mask, bubbles should start to foam and you will leave the mask on about 5-10mins. After leaving on for about 5-10mins, remove the mask and rinse the remaining product from your face until it is completely and thoroughly washed off.

Ingredients:

Water(Aqua), Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Glycerin, Methyl Perfluorobutyl Ether, Methyl Perfluoroisobutyl Ether, Lactic Acid, Tartaric Acid, Salicylic Acid, Papain, Trehalose, Tocopheryl Acetate, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Oxygen, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Water, Pyyrus malus (Apple) Fruit Water, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch hazel) Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, laminaria Japonica Extract, Polypodium Vulgare Rhizome Extract, Cetraria Islandica Thallus Extract, Sphagnum Magellanicum Extract, Propanediol, Maltose, Butylene Glycol, Cyclodextrin, Niacinamide, pathenol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Rutin, Tocopherol, Polyglyceryl-10 Myristate, Polycaprolcactone, Retinol, Polysorbate 20, Carbon Dioxide, potassium Hydroxide, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Citric Acid, AHA1% (Lactic Acid + Tartaric Acid), Fragrance(Parfum)

My experience:

I’ve bought this sheet mask online because I ran out of my bubble peeling gel by MISSHA that I love to death. I thought why no tot try something else for a change and since NEOGEN products are on my “to test” list I decided to start with some peeling products from this brand.

The mask comes in black and white packaging with clear instructions written in English which is always a good thing. I’ve opened the pack and saw that the sheet was black. Once I touched it it felt very soapy and somewhat slime’ish. I immediately popped it onto my face and was staring in the mirror to see how fast it starts bubbling. After one minute my face was covered in bubbles but there were no accompanying bubbly sounds yet. After 5 minutes I started to hear light hissing and popping and my skin felt light tingling.

The thicker areas of my skin could tolerate it well but when it came to the spots around the eyes it started to burn. I tried pushing the mask around my eyes to create moe open space but that was not a great idea. The solution went everywhere and I did get it into my eye. I had to take the mask off and rince my eyes immediately. I know this is not adviced, but I quickly cut larger holes fr the eyes and popped the mask back for the remaining 5 minutes. It felt waay better this time.

My skin felt this amazing bubbling sensation  that I like so much from my peeling products. It was not harsh. On the other hand, the smell of this mask was. It is scented like those Citronella candles that are repelling mosquitoes. Well the smell repelled me too. After 10 full minutes of my face it didn’t disappear anywhere.  Huge downside for making this mask a pleasant experience. I really really hate the smell of this mask but I love what it does for my skin.

The rinsing off part is very fast. I am left with visibly brighter and squeaky clean face. What I felt immediately that I needed some hydration after this mask. I put on my Instytutum toner that is very rich and hydrating and my face looked flawless. NEOGEN does some serious business when it comes to the peeling products. What I can conclude so far is that I must try more of their sheet mask offerings to wether fall in love with them or stay neutral to this specific brand. My overall “go for it” advise when shopping for NEOGEN is their pads products and few items from the Agecure line. The reviews on these will follow as well so don’t forget to check my blog once in a while.

Summary:

The WYT Oxygen AHA Bubble Peeling Mask was effective product for my skin type but I can never get used to the way it smells. Would I buy it again? Probably not. It was a pleasant experience but for less money I can control the areas of application using my favorite peeling gel that delivers same results and hydrates my skin.

Pros:
+ Paraben Sulfate and Alcohol free formualtion
+ Contains acids, skin anti-aging and brightening ingredients
+ Packed with Niacinamide, Vitamins and Panthenol
+ Affordable price
+ Great immediate results on the skin
+ Good quality of the sheet
+ Washes off in seconds

Cons:
– Strong scent
– Irritates skin around the eye area

MISSHA Dong baek (Camellia) Flower Sleeping Mask

Yes, yes I know, 2 reviews in one day!!! I’m trying to catch up with somewhat long break I had without being able to publish anything in-between.

“Camellia” is the English name for the Dong baek flower which is used in the MISSHA Flower Sleeping Mask. I liked the Rose mask a lot and simply could resist myself so I bought it as well.

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ Containing 1,000ppm of fermented camellia oil from Jeju which is excellent for skin nourishing, it provides soft care for the dry skin that becomes exhausted during the day time.
❇ With creamy texture containing full nutrition, it plumps the dry skin with hydration.
❇ Soft camellia fragrance relieves you while you are sleeping.

Directions from the manufacturer:

At the last step of skin care, apply an appropriate amount, avoiding eye and lip area, and take sleep. The next morning, wash your face with lukewarm water.

Ingredients:

Water(Aqua), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cetyl Alcohol, Glycereth-26, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Camellia Japonica Flower Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Honey Extract, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Sodium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Trideceth-10, Xanthan Gum, 1,2-Hexanediol, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, Fragrance(Parfum)

My experience:

Dong baek flower is a stunning flower that has been used in skin care for centuries. It has a special place in Asian history and there are several legends that surround this plant. I have tried several Camellia plant based products in the past and I’ve had only positive experience with it. (Well, maybe except the Illi mask…)

If I would compare this mask to the Rose one from the same series I’d tell you that there are several obvious differences in terms of color, texture, absorption rate and hydration levels. Oh wait I am comparing them 🙂

The Camellia mask comes in a yellow jar and contains 105 ml of product which is a lot. The texture of the substance inside is between cream and thick gel that is semi-opaque and white. The scent of this mask is a very pleasant, light, airy and floral. Once it is applied to my oily skin it takes about 10-15 minutes for it to be absorbed by the skin.  I feel like there is a light thin film left on my skin to protect my skin from drying out. One note that I made for myself is that it would be perfect to use in more colder months. Since it’s a thick gel formulation (much thicker than the Rose one) it would do a beautiful job when the air is cold and dry.

Upon waking-up there is no greasy film on my skin I can just simply rinse what’s left with my morning with just water. I still use my cleanser though because I like a squeaky clean face in the morning. Even after washing my face with foamy cleanser my skin feels well hydrated and that feeling lasts me for a long time. My make-up goes on flawlessly as well. To sum everything up I would definitely recommend it for the use on the cold time of the year or if you have a dry skin. And if your skin is super-duper-dry this mask would be an awesome skin care product for you! Yet again one more great product from MISSHA brand. I start to think they won me over with their products for life.

Summary:

Pros:
+ Paraben, sulfate and alcohol free formula
+ Perfect for dry skin
+  Contains Camellia seed oil and flower extracts
+ Light fragrance
+ Affordable price and easy to buy
+ Beautiful packaging

Cons:
– Contains fragrance
– Contains silicone
– Does not come with the application spatula

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: bbcreamshop.eu and missha.nl

Lange Hydra-Global Active Cream Mask

Lange Hydra-Global Active Cream Mask is my go-to product that I always use when I am bored of trying out new products. You can call it a save haven product and I would totally agree with that.

front

Ingredients:

The only available information from the Lange website: Tropical Mango Butter (emollient, softening, regenerating, antioxidant and soothing), NATAMILK® Honey and Shea (moisturizing, nourishing, softening, soothing), Organic Horse Chestnut (tones).

Full ingredient list:

Water, Propanediol, Glycerin, Isononyl Isononanoate, Dimethicone, Dicaprylyl Ether, PEG-8, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Methyl Methacrylate, PEG-Crosspolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Chlorphenesin, Fragrance, Polysilicone-11, Titanium Dioxide, Tromethamine, Galactaric Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Isohexadecane, Lilium Candidum Flower Extract, Passiflora Incarnata Flower Extract, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract, Hydroxycitronellal, Ammonium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Silica, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Polysorbate 80, Citronellol, Polysorbate 20, Geraniol, Aluminum Hydroxide, Linalool, Blue 1 (CI 42090)

My experience:

I first bought it around 4 years ago from the TKmaxx  store in UK after my most favorite mask from this brand was discontinued. It’s predecessor, the gel mask was my nr 1 most used mask for years and with this mask  I am compensating the loss of my favorite (R.I.P darling, we remember you). The Hydra-Global Active Cream Mask is the next best thing available from the  hydrating line currently produced by this French brand.

The cream-mask is a thick beige colored cream that spreads out well. It is non-sticky and has some light fresh scent to it. You can use this mask as a wash(wipe) off-treatment if you apply a thick layer on your face or use it as a sleeping mask (thin layer of product is advised). I usually go for option nr 2 because it is easier for me. I usually do my evening skin care routine that I finish off with this product applied last.

Once  applied it take about 10 minutes for the product to sink into my skin. After 10 minutes my skin feels very hydrated and there is very little residue left on my skin. I you apply it in a classic way you will be having the white cast as this is a cream mask so definitely clean it off your face afterwards. Since I use it overnight only I rinse it off in the morning.

What does it do to my skin? First of all it hydrates and does it very well. Being a cream mask, this specific mask is one of the few cream products that doesn’t break me out. On contrary it fights my existing blemishes and reduces the redness and inflammation on my skin. On the days when I don’t want to experiment with my skin care I always reach for it because I know my skin will look nearly perfect by the time I wake up. To me it is a good old faithful friend. What about you? Have you tried it?

Summary:

Pros:
+ Paraben, Sulfate and Alcohol free formula
+ Rich in anti-ageing ingredients and vitamine E
+ Contains UV shields
+ Suitable for the dry skin
+ Light pleasant fragrance
+ Ultra-moisturizing when used as a sleeping mask

Cons:
– Contains silicone and fragrance
– Less suitable for sensitive and acne prone skin
– Steep price

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: TKmaxx shops
❇ Internationally: Available at lange.fr and amazon
❇ Price is  – 98€ per 50ml jar

MINI CAPSULE PACK Deluxe Set of 4 Face Masks by The Face Shop

Today’s review is kind of 4-in-1 deal. After my recent trip to UK and raiding some shops there that sometimes sell the Korean beauty products (yes, TKMaxx, talking about you here) I finally laid my hands on the capsule masks. Unfortunately, the choices were sparse and the only capsules I could see there were from The Face Shop. Without further ado I present to you the glorious and the magnificent “MINI CAPSULE PACK Deluxe Set of 4 Face masks” or “the set” for short.

The set contains 4 mask capsules that contain 10 grams of product each. capsules are made out of brown nontransparent plastic and are covered with a protective seal. Overall, packaging is nice and my only complaints so far are the too long name of the set(way too long and impossible to remember) and the fact that capsules are filled 1/3rd of the way.

Application is same for all 4 masks: Massage onto clean skin, avoiding the eyes and mouth areas. Leave on for 10 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water.

Below are the ingredients for all four masks together with more detailed description of the masks.

Aloe mask

Ingredients: Water/eau, glycerin, propanediol, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, 1,2-hexanediol, beta-glucan, acrylates/c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, peg-32, betaine, potassium hydroxide, diethoxyethyl succinate, peg-60 hydrogenated castor oil, phenoxyethanol, citrus paradisi(grapefruit) fruit extract, xanthan gum, parfum, glyceryl acrylate/acrylic acid copolymer, disodium edta

Texture: Transparent gel, very smooth application
Scent: This one smells of raw natural honey that you buy from the farmer’s market. Scent is quite prominent in the pack but gets less strong when applied to the face.
Claims: Moisturizing

Pomegranate mask

Ingredients: Water/eau, glycerin, dipropylene glycol, caprylic/capric triglyceride, peg-32, cetearyl alcohol, peg-8 beeswax, peg-100 stearate, panthenol, glyceryl stearate, betaine, sodium hyaluronate, eclipta prostata extract, melia azadirachta leaf extract, punica granatum fruit extract, natto gum, moringa oleifera seed oil, zea mays(corn) starch, mannitol, propanediol, peg-240/hdi copolymer bis-decyltetradeceth-20 ether, caprylic/capric glycerides, 1,2-hexanediol, phenoxyethanol, carbomer, caprylhydroxamic acid, potassium hydroxide, parfum, disodium edta, butylene glycol, ethylhexylglycerin, microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl starch phosphate, iron oxides (CI 77492)

Texture: milky/yoghurt like cream
Scent: Light fruity fragrance
Claims: Resilience, Lifting

Rice mask:

Ingredients: Water/eau, propanediol, cyclopentasiloxane, domethicone, betaine, polysorbate 60, trehalose, glycerin, 1,2-hexanediol, panthenol, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/vp copolymer, microcrystalline cellulose, oryza sativa(rice) powder,peg-32, jojoba wax peg-120 esters, caprylhydroxamic acid, phenoxyethanol, acrylates/c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, hydrogynated lecithin, dimethiconol, potassium hydroxide, cellulose gum, disodium edta, sodium hyalyronate, ethylhexylglycerin, parfum

Texture: semitransparent gel with crushed rice particles in it
Scent: Very light and reminds of Nivea cream
Claims: Brightening

Conclusion:
Overall interesting concept of capsules. All four masks behaved well on me without causing any breakouts. They were extremely hard to wash off which I didn’t like at all. I would not repurchase this set.

Pros:
+ You can get couple of uses out of each capsule
+ Great concept and packaging (I like when products have rather sealed sachets instead of huge tub that once opened can and will collect bacteria)
+ Perfect for vacations and short trips due to the small weight of the container

Pumpkin mask (Soothing + Brightening) by BLING POP

A while ago I have stumbled across this sheet mask on the bol.com and wanted to try it out because so far there were no pumpkin masks in my arsenal. Pumpkin mask by BLING POP looked like a good way to expand my masking horizons.

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ Contained pumpkin extract  that helps to reveal skin to looks smoother, younger, radiant and revitalized.

(Could grammar be any better on the packaging….)

Directions from the manufacturer:

Smooth the skin texture with a toner after washing face. Apply mask onto face, smoothing and spreading evenly onto facial contours. Remove the mask after 15-20 minutes. Gently massage any excess essence into the skin.

Ingredients:

Water, Glycerin, Methylpropanediol, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Fruit Extract, Paeonia Lactiflora Root Extract, Convallaria Majalis Bulb/Root Extract, Magnolia Kobus Branch/Flower/Leaf Extract, Lilium Candidum Flower Extract, Ipomoea Purpurea Extract, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Polysorbate 80, Ethylhexylglycerin, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Arginine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol

My experience:

I’ve officially tried it all :))) At least I think I did. Tomato, potato, snail mucin, kelp, seaweed, bean, beet, carrot, you name it. Been there, done that! Only the pumpkin mask was left on my botanical “to do (mask) list”.

I stumbled across the bling pop mask on the bol.com and was wondering whether to try it or not. Guess what I’ve decided? The pumpkin mask comes in the bright colorful girly packaging which catches the eye even across the room. Upon opening the pack, there is a slight flowery-fruity scent that is somewhat strong but after 10 minutes you don’t notice it anymore. The sheet is made of thick cotton which is surprisingly soft.

Application of the sheet was easy-breezy. I was left with some extra folds here and there but it staid on my face the entire 15 minutes that I was cooking pasta. Once I removed the sheet there was some essence left on my skin which felt slightly oily. The second thing I noticed was that my skin felt tighter and firmer.

I can not say anything about the smoothing and brightening since it was too dark and my skin was in pretty good condition that day. It did feel hydrated, but not too much. Since I applied this mask late in the evening I didn’t mind the oily’ish feel and just put my night serum over it for extra conditioning of my skin. This sheet mask did not break me out.

Pros:
+ Alcohol, sulfate and paraben free formula
+ Contains vitamine E and flower extracts
+ Suitable for oily, combination, normal and dry skin types
+ Clean fruity-flowery fragrance
+ Hydrating and plumping on my skin
+ Good fit of the sheet on my face

Cons:
– Contains fragrance
– Careful if you have sensitive skin, may irritate you
– Price differences per sheet mask are very big

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: Available at bol.com
❇ Internationally: Available at cosmetica-fanatica and dorasommer
❇ Price varies between 3-8€ per sheet

I’ve decided to try it out and see what results will I get from it seeing how many positive reviews are out there especially from people with oily and acne prone skin. I’m glad it didn’t disappoint me!

My experience:

I’ve tested this ampoule for full 2 weeks, letting my Borabit Ampoule silently cry on the shelf (sorry babe, I love you but girl has to try something else for a change). It performed equally well and I am very satisfied with the results.

The Cell Renew Snail Ampoule is one of those products with very girly, lux iridescent packaging and is pleasant to look at. I do keep mine in the fridge for the sole purpose of using this serum as a refreshing goodness on hot evenings. What strikes me the most is how economical it is in use. The golden pipette on this is very small and has a button on top. Pushing it allows the product to be pulled into the pipette and if you push it again it will release it’s contents into your hands or onto your face. Despite the fact that pipette is getting only half filled with product, it is exactly the right amount to apply on my face.

The serum has little to no smell. It is fresh and light and I can not pinpoint what particular perfume ingredients are used in it. The consistency is semi-transparent serum that at first feels oily and gliding, but then it is quickly sinking into the skin. I presume that is the famous snail mucin that acts like that on the skin. Once applied it is absorbing fast leaving my skin looking more radiant. When testing it out, the only other product that I used in my evening care was my Super Aqua Mini Pore toner. I didn’t feel like my skin needed any cream after this serum. Last few days I was layering my sleeping packs over it to see if it would cause any breakouts. Also nothing which is a great news for colder months!

What can I say for the 2 weeks of use? My skin is definitely more firm and has less texture to it. I had some small milia breakout situation on my chin right before I started using this ampoule and it was completely gone in 3-4 days. I do notice that my skin got firmer and started producing less oil. I need to blot it once a day nw instead of 2-3 times. It is definitely doing a great job.

I looked up the ingredients and was shocked. 65% of it is the snail mucin filtrate! How cool is that? It is also the 1st ingredient on the list meaning there is no hoax with it having water base with 2 drops of mucin diluted in 10 liters of water. The concentration of 65% is truly remarkable. The minus points on the ingredients are for the alcohol (10th on the list) and silicone(11th on the list) ingredients. Be careful if you have sensitive skin !!!! Still, seeing how my skin has changed over the past 2 weeks, definitely worth buying again!

Pros:
+ Paraben and sulfate free formulation
+ Contains 65% of snail mucin filtrate
+ Contains niacinamide and adenosine, 2 strongest anti-aging ingredients
+ Meets it’s claims on my skin
+ Good skin plumping results on my skin
+ Excellent at evening the texture
+ Gorgeous design of the packaging
+ Regulates my oil production

Cons:
– Contains alcohol, silicone and fragrance
– Pipette with the button picks up less product than similar serum products
– May not be suitable for very sensitive skin
– 30 ml is very little for the price

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: bbcreamshop.eu , missha.nl and littlewonderland.nl
❇ Internationally: Available at misshaus, yesstyle, notino and many other webshops
❇ Price varies between 35 and 40 € per 30 ml

My experience:

From all of the new sleeping packs that I’ve been testing I reach for this mask the most. It has a very nice consistency and very natural scent that knocks me out into a good sleep.

This mask is a gel formula that is semi-transparent and has a light pink tint to it. It is not too thick nor too thin, just what I like in my sleeping masks. Once I apply it onto my face it transforms into serum-like gel which is very easy to spread over the face and you only need a little of product to cover the entire face. The fragrance is the bomb in this one! Very light and airy and doesn’t cause any headache.

What I love about this mask is how quickly it is absorbed by my skin.  Within 5 minutes I am left with no trace of the product on my face and there is no tackiness either. I appreciate it a lot because with the current warm weather, my face enjoys the light and fresh feeling this mask leaves on my skin.

Upon wakening there is no greasy film on my skin I can just simply rinse what’s left with my morning. cleanser and I am good to go. My skin always feels rested and hydrated. It is good for every-day use and the 105 ml jar is going to last me quite a while. Very happy with this new addition by MISSHA. They don’t seem to disappoint me on the sleeping mask front 🙂

Pros:
+ Paraben, Sulfate, Alcohol free
+ Best used for oily, combination and normal skin
+ Contains antioxidants and anti-aging ingredients
+ Very relaxing and subtle rose fragrance
+ Great performance on my oily skin
+ Quickly absorbed by the skin

Cons:
– Contains fragrance (one of the last items on the list)
– Contains silicone
– May not provide enough hydration to the very dry skin
– Does not come with the application spatula
