Water Bomb Jelly Mask – Moisture by BERRISOM

Water Bomb Jelly Mask – Moisture by BERRISOM is one of the 4 jelly masks that this brand is famous for. I’ve got my hand on 3 of them and I will review all 3 of them in time starting with the moisture mask.

front
back
Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ A nourishing face mask for dry skin types.
❇ Offering 120 hours of hydration, WaterBomb Jelly Mask – Moisture is packed with skin soaking favourites that slow moisture evaporation and prolong soft, plump skin. Perfect for a dry, tired complexion, use as necessary to instantly boost brightness and visibly reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Directions from the manufacturer:

Place mask over clean, dry skin. Leave for 15-20 minutes before removing. Dispose of mask and pat excess serum into the skin.

Ingredients:

Water/Eau, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Bis-Peg-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/Vp Copolymer, Polyacrylic Acid, Dimethicone, Milk Protein Extract, Honey Extract, Potassium Hydroxide, Cellulose Gum, Ethylhexylglycerin, Adenosine, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Octyldodecanol, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf Extract, Pelargonium Graveolens Extract, Origanum Vulgare Leaf Extract, Butylene Glycol, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Ceramide Np, Tamarindus Indica Seed Polysaccharide, Trehalose, Mentha Spicata Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, Silica, Lecithin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Myrothamnus Flabellifolia Leaf Extract, Polyquaternium-51, Nasturtium Officinale Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance/Parfum

My experience:
essence

First of all, the packaging is nice and clear. It has all the necessary descriptions available in english and an easy opening. Once you open the bag you are knocked out by the strong scent of the gel. And by strong I mean very strong. I can live with strongly scented masks but not with these water bomb jelly maks. All of them have kind of similar scent that is verging chemical citronella/artificial lemon fragrance and something very sweet. The exception was this moisture mask. It smells like a laundry detergent straight from the box.

contents

After you get used to the scent (joking, you never will), it’s time to get the sheet out. It comes out with a big blob of jelly attached to it. But once jelly contacts your skin, it starts melting down into more watery consistency and eventually dripping down the chin. As for the fit and adherence of the mask, both are excellent. The fabric of this mask series is made of the similar synthetic material that is used in Blithe masks. So what about the results?

applied

Each of the masks in this series are made to hydrate your skin. And they are pretty good at doing so. Unfortunately they are too overpriced for the results. they deliver on my dehydrated skin.  The claim of 120 hours of moisture is far fetched. It doesn’t last for 24h either. I’d say 8-12 hours at most and then you need to consider some other mask. Will I be buying it again? No. I don’t want to sound like a nagging Nancy but this entire series is a huge fail from the brand.

Summary:

Pros:
+ Cute packaging
+ Amazing fit and adherence
+ Paraben, sulfate and alcohol free formula

Cons:
– Bad smell of the essence
– Wonky consistency of the essence
– Overpriced
– Zero results besides basic hydration
– Contains fragrance and silicone

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: I’ve got mine from boozyshop but it is not available anymore
❇ Internationally: Available at amazon and beautybay
❇ Price is +/- 4€ per one mask

SKINFOOD Seaweed Marine Food Gel Mask

SKINFOOD Seaweed Marine Food Gel Mask is part of the 5 hydrogel masks from the Marine food series launched by SKINFOOD couple of years ago.  They are not easy to find in EU even though they are of an excellent quality for people with all skin types.

front
back
Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ A refreshing and moisturizing gel mask infused with seaweed extracts and blue marine complex for intense hydration.
❇ Use to soothe and calm a sun-stressed complection.

Directions from the manufacturer:

After cleansing your face, use toner and place mask onto face. Remove after 10-20 minutes and pat excess essence for absorption.

Ingredients:

Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Caprylic/ Capric Triglyceride, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Hydrolyzed Ceratonia Siliqua Gum Extract, Chondrus Crispus Powder, Sodium Polyacrylate, Croscarmellose, Polysorbate 20, Hydrolyzed Pearl, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Trideceth-6, Algae Extract, Laminaria Japonica Extract, Gelldium Amansii Extract, Salicornia Herbacea Extract, Sea Water, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.

My experience:
contents

To me this SKINFOOD Seaweed Hydrogel mask is a good skin refreshing and hydrating mask that is a good make-up base for the day. The mask comes in gorgeous blue packaging that is easy to open. Unfortunately the back side is all in Korean so no idea what it says there. Inside the pack there are 2 pieces of hydrogel (for upper and lower halves of the face). Each piece is protected by 2 pieces of plastic shielding, one thinner and one hard one. The scent of the essence is amazing. It seems like the same type of fragrance is used in scenting each and every mask from this range. The fragrance is floral and marine at the same time. Very yummy.

Essence is transparant and semi-liquid ensuring that this mask won’t glide of your face. The adherence and fit are as good as they can get. The luxuriously thick gel hugs my face in the right places. The eye cutouts are also well positioned and have a nice cut so that the edges of the mask don’t irritate the area close to my eyes. There is a thin sheet of fabric embedded in the gel and sometimes they may cause irritation in the areas with sensitive skin.

applied

After 40 minutes my skin is supercharged with moisture. What is very lovely about this mask is that it leaves little to no tacky residue, same as the sea cucumber and jellyfish masks. My skin is fresh, extremely hydrated and cooled down.  Loving this mask series a lot. Would I recommend it? Yes, if you have oily and dehydrated skin. This version and the seaweed one are most suitable for you. If your skin is more on the normal-dry side, get the oyster or sea cucumber mask.

Summary:

Pros:
+  Paraben, Sulfate, Silicone, Alcohol free formula
+ Super fit and adherence
+ Good quality hydrogel
+ Skin hydrating results are very prominent
+ Beautiful packaging and fragrance
+ Comfortable application

Cons:
– Hard to get in EU
– Info on the pack all in Korean
– Contains fragrance

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: Not Available
❇ Internationally: Available at beauteque and amazon
❇ Price is +/- 5€ per one hydrogel mask

What is old? What is new?: Empties and new skin care products

Today is the day that I’ve decided to sum up the bunch of stuff that was swirling in my brain and to finally put it on paper. I’ve decided to shortly mention my favorite products that I have used up in last month or so and to finally introduce some new brands into my skin care. So today’s review is all about the Empties and new skin care products that are going to gradually appear on my blog.

Empties:

Nearly everything is gone till the last drop

I won’t be reviewing every sheet mask that I’ve use in the past month here, it is too much work for both me and you so the regular sheet mask reviews will appear as normal content. For al of the products mentioned in today’s post I will rate each product that I’ve used up according to the following score chart:

❇❇❇❇❇– Holy Grail, will probably purchase it up until I retire
❇❇❇❇– Excellent product, will consider repurchasing it (unless I stumble across a better alternative)
❇❇❇– Good one for overal use but there is definitely a better known alternative for it
❇❇– Not impressive or not performing well on my skin
❇– Waste of money (try before you buy)

Skin care

It’s all about the hydration

MISSHA Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist 150 ml
Rating: ❇❇❇❇❇

Amazing quality! One bottle of this magic juice and lasts me approximately for 3 months. In order to stretch it out for that period of time I am decanting it into a spray travel bottle so that I can use my favorite whenever and wherever. Tip: perfect base for first couple of layers if you enjoy doing the 7-skin method.

MISSHA Time Revolution Night Repair Borabit Ampoule 50 ml
Rating: ❇❇❇❇❇

Great addition to the MISSHA First Treatment Essence. It smoothes and calms my skin like no other. I only use it in my evening skin care. (I used to apply it in the mornings too but I now have a lighter alternative for my skin needs). If you never tried it, go and buy it and your skin will love you eternally.

MISSHA Super Aqua Ultra Waterful Cream
Rating: ❇❇❇❇❇

Holy-moly-grail cream for me. The texture is light and silky, resembling a thick gel. Loving everything about it starting from the fresh cactus-like scent of it and ending up with the way it seals all the moisture on my skin. Who knew that my oily skin will love this so much!!!

MISA Geum Sul Emulsion
Rating: ❇❇❇

Love the smell and the packaging of it. Ingredients are very extensive and definitely benefit the aging skin. After going through the entire bottle I do notice the reduction in pigmentation and fine lines. Unfortunately at some days it felt like too much for my skin. If you have a dry skin, definitely give this one a go.

Lange Hydra-Global Active Cream Mask
Rating: ❇❇❇❇❇

Best used as a sleeping mask and not like it is advertised. Amazing skin tightening and hydrating results and zero breakouts. Loving it and had already purchased a replacement jar!!!

Cleansers

Cleansers

Vichy Normaderm Deep Cleansing Purifying Gel 400 ml
Rating: ❇❇❇

Quite reasonable cleanser for oily and combination skin. I enjoy it’s light texture and used it every time in my morning cleansing. For now there are plenty of better low pH alternatives out there so I won’t be repurchasing this tube any time soon. It is very economic in use, the 400 ml bottle lasted me for half a year.

MERUMAYA Melting Cleansing Balm 100 ml
Rating: ❇❇

This particular balmy cleanser did nothing to my skin except leaving it greasy after washing it off. It does take the make off and doesn’t irritate the eyes but the finish of it that remained on the skin is unacceptable for me. Better get a good oil cleanser or the Clean it Zero balm for the same price.

Cellio It’s True Premium Real Honey Deep Cleansing Foam
Rating: ❇❇❇❇

I love this cleanser and currently it is my top favorite out there but I have a bunch of other brands lined up in my stash that I want to test first and see if this goodness will remain the ultimate winner. It cleanses my skin gently, leaving it hydrated yet free of all the dirt and grime. Impressive and smells nice.

Pore and pimple care

COSRX Clear Fit Master Patch
Rating: ❇❇❇

Pimple patches are my friends. This particular edition is OK but not the best one I’ve tried. I will stick to the classic COSRX acne pimple master patch or the Lioele patches.

Lange Matifying Mask
Rating: ❇❇❇

It was ok but not as high quality in terms of delivering immediate results as other products from this brand. Overall a bit disappointed with it. Still a good product for those who doesn’t want their skin to shrink like a prune during the application.

Body care

MISSHA Fresh Mint Cooling Body Sorbet
Rating: ❇❇❇

When it comes to the light fresh fragrance of it and feel on my skin after application, this is a clear winner for me. Unfortunately the hydration abilities of it are not spectacular. It is good for the summer or humid environment but not enough for my skin during the colder months.

MISSHA Near Skin Self Control Sticky Massage 200ml

Rating: ❇❇❇❇❇

OMG!!!! My holy grail for….. wait for it…. body!!!!! Whaat? Yep, you heard me! It perorms well on my face but concidering that the jar is 200ml I was never able to use it up within the 12 months since the opening. So here comes the boom- wiht the realization that container is humongous, I’ve started using it on my body and… It completely got rid of my Keratosis Pilaris on my arms. A one skin condition that was never influenced by anything in my life. I swear by this thing and am solely using the next jar on my body as the difference of my skin on my upper arms is tremendous.

P.S> It is not sticky as advertised in the name 🙂

New skin care products:

As for the new skin care, I’ve decided to expand my interests towards organic skin care and hunted down some fun stuff from the Japanese market. Sorry, no Hada Labo product reviews coming…. Yet 😉

Hello from Japan 🙂

Splurge alert !!!

For my birthday I’ve ended up investing into an entire set of Whamisa products. I have sampled each and every product before I bought them  and was quite happy after 1-2x uses. Sorry, my dear wallet, it just had to happen that I wanted them in full-size. Below you can find the list of items that I am already testing or will start testing out on coming Monday. There will be individual reviews of each product that will go live in November because that’s when I’m planning to do it.

I have high hopes for you, guys

❇ Whamisa Organic Flowers Toner Deep Rich 300 ml
❇ Whamisa Organic Flowers Lotion Original 120 ml
❇ Whamisa Organic Flowers & Fruits Feminine Cleanser 150 ml
❇ Whamisa Organic Flowers Natural Fermented Creamy Foam Cleanser 200 ml

❇ Whamisa Organic Fruits Peeling Finger Mitt Sebum Care 25 pads
❇ Whamisa Organic Flowers Apple Sebum Treatment  120 ml
❇ Whamisa Organic Flowers Hydrogel Mask

Anti-aging products

Since I am going into the winter mode and I just turned 30, I’ve decided to invest into the Geum Sul line by MISSHA and got 3 unique products that stood out of the bunch with their ingredients and their potential use. I also got another version of the Near Skin Self Control Peeling massage thing-of-a-bobs to see if it is going to improve my Keratosis Pilaris any further.

MISSHA Geum Sul investigation continues

❇ MISA Geum Sul Lifting Special Cream 50 ml (the actual jar is on the photo with Whamisa products)
❇ MISA Geum Sul Vitalizing Finisher 60 ml
❇ MISA Geum Sul First Essence Booster 100 ml
❇ MISSHA Near Skin Self Control peeling massage 200 ml

More masks !!!

What mask-addict blog wouldn’t include the new masks. Ha-ha, definitely not mine. Over past 4 weeks I’ve collected a whole bunch of amazing looking masks from MISSHA and Hello Skin brands and will be doing the test-drives of these in coming weeks. So definitely stay tuned.

New revies are coming out soon

❇ Hello Skin Jumiso Whoa Whoa Soothing Mask
❇ Hello Skin Jumiso Chewy Elasticity Mask
❇ Hello Skin Jumiso Rich Nourishment Mask
❇ MISA Cho Gong Jin Silky Mask
❇ MISSHA Skin Essential Charcoal & Horse Oil Sheet Mask
❇ MISSHA Glowing Oil-Soak Mask
❇ MISSHA 3-step Nutrition Mask

New brand in town

And of course  last but not least, after the Huxley skin care release I was extremely eager to try out their products and see myself what all the fuss is about. Considering that trying out everything full-size would put an enormous dent into my wallet I’ve opted for the set of miniatures that I am planning to take on my coming vacation in January. I also purchased the miniature set of their oils (which is currently flying across the ocean on one of the shipping courier planes). Soon I will be adding review about them too so don’t hesitate to check out my blog around January for the reviews on this brand.

Matcha Clay Pack by LEEGEEHAAM

Matcha Clay Pack by LEEGEEHAAM is a good clay mask if you want something that is easy to use and comes in a large container. If you don’t mind spending 20$/€ you should try it out. I should warn you though, it is not a holy grail product.

front
contents
Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ A wash-off type clay pack with antioxidant-rich matcha purifying and detoxifying dull skin. It helps to tighten enlarged pores as it dries, maintaining skin smooth and revitalized.
❇ Redness might appear right after rinsing off, which is due to the product’s tightening function.

Directions from the manufacturer:

Apply an appropriate amount on face gently. After 10 min, wash off with warm water.

Ingredients:

Water, Kaolin, Dipropylene glycol, Bentonite, Camellia sinensis leaf extract, Betaine, Silica, Butylene glycol, Montmorillonite, 1,2-hexanediol, Illite, Hydroxyacetophenone, Hydroxyethyl urea, Cellulose, Xanthan gum, Chromium oxide greens, Citric acid, Citrus aurantium bergamia (bergamot) fruit oil, Disodium edta, Ethylhexylglycerin, Lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil

My experience:
texture is very watery yet thick

It reminds me of the L’Oreal Purify & Mattify Face Mask from thePure Clay series except that LEEGEEHAAM mask is much better version out of the two. If L’Oreal breaks me out like a beast, this one does a decent job at mattifying my face and temporarily tightening the pores.

Anyhow, do not attempt to apply it on an entire face. When this mask is dry after 10 minutes it tugs a lot on the skin. If you have a sensitive skin use it more-less like a spot treatment or just cover the necessary areas.

The mask is sea-foam green in color and the jar contains 110 grams of product which is a nice amount. The packaging is sturdy plastic that has very minimalistic logo on it and a brief description of the back. The scent is very fresh and not too strong. Mask itself is very soft and creamy but the consistency is a bit on the thicker side. With this particular product the less is more. More you apply, more it will tug on the skin irritating it…

just applied
after 10 minutes

The advised wear time is 10 minutes which ensures that the mask is entirely dry by the end of that time. When it comes to rinsing it off, it is a very pleasant experience. Mask comes off in very little time and requires minimal effort. After it is washed off, my skin is pleasantly hydrated but I still have an urge to moisturize my skin after 15 minutes. When it comes to the results, this mask is nothing special. It does diminish the appearance of my pores a bit and gets rid of my oil. It basically does everything other clay masks do. Overall it is a pleasant product but I would not purchase it again. There are many other masks performing better on my skin for much less $$ spent.

Summary:

Pros:

+ Easy to wash off
+ After use skin is decently hydrated considering this is a clay pack
+ Decent amount of product in the jar
+ Minimalistic packaging
+ Sulfate, silicone, alcohol, paraben free formulation

Cons:
– Pulling too much on the skin
– Not worth the price, there are better masks delivering better results at lower price point

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: littlewonderland.nl
❇ Internationally: Available at amazon and glowrecipe
❇ Price is 20,95€ per 110 grams jar

MISSHA Geum Sul Vitalizing Eye Cream & Micro Needle Patch

MISSHA Geum Sul Vitalizing Eye Cream & Micro Needle Patch is an anti-aging treatment for the gentle area under the eyes. It is very unique in use as you have to apply the under eye cream on your face first and only then the special patches with little tiny needles on them. These patches are meant to increase the circulation, tighten and brighten the skin under the eyes which they do!

contents of the pack
eye cream
Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ Missha Geum Sul Vitalizing Eye Cream (10ml)
❇ 4 x Needle Patches
❇ Components of the needle: hyaluronic acid, peptides, Madecassoside fermented wild ginseng extract.
❇ Direct transport of active ingredients through a fine micro-needle system in the challenged skin layers.
❇ Cream: An outstanding Eye Cream with oriental extracts and pure gold meets Micro Needle patches of concentrated hyaluronic acid for a smooth eye area and a youthful radiant look.

Directions from the manufacturer:

Apply a fair amount of eye cream around the eyes. Remove the film from the patch and make sure to touch the patch very carefully by the edges. Attach the patch under the eye. Tap gently on the patch to fix it and optimize the absorption into the skin. After 30 minutes, remove the patch. After you have removed the patch, apply again to the eyes Cream to maximize the wrinkle smoothing effect.

You can use a patch every three days. A patch is suitable for single administration. You can use the patch in other areas of the face such as on the smile lines.

Ingredients:

Panax Ginseng Root Water, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Velvet Extract, Propanediol, Butylene Glycol, Dicaprylate/Dicaprate Hydrogenated Polydecene, Ganoderma Lucidum (Mushroom) Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Stearic Acid, Glycol Stearate SE, Dipentaerythrityl Hexahydroxystearate/Hexastearate/Hexarosinate, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Phellinus Baumii Mycelium/Panax Ginseng Root Ferment Extract, Filtrate Panthenol, Beeswax, Palmitic Acid, Polyacrylate-13, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Dimethicone, Phenoxyethanol, Polyisobutene, Tocopheryl Acetate, Chlorphenesin, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Poria Cocos Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Fragrance, Disodium EDTA, Arginine, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Oil Soluble Licorice(Glycyrrhiza) Extract, Polysorbate 20, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Extract, Adenosine, Sorbitan Isostearate, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Flour Extract, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Mica (CI 77019), Coptis Japonica Root Extract, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid, Copolymer, Pantolactone Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Honey Extract, Panax Ginseng Callus Culture Extract, Gold Iron Oxides (CI 77491), Citric Acid, sh-Octapeptide-4.

My experience:

I can’t brag enough about how great this product is. First of all you get 10 ml tube of cream that is going to last you for a long time after you are finished with the patches. I’ve used only third of the tube for all of my patches and am still enjoying the amazing goodness and it’s benefits every evening before going to bed. With what is left in the tube I am still able to make it through the month with daily applications which is definitely worth it!

just after the application

The entire system of the cream-patches-cream application has improved my under eye area tremendously. I’ve used the entire set up in 2 weeks and the area under my eyes is baby smooth and completely wrinkle free. And I did have plenty of crows feet to work with. The entire system is quite easy to apply, the wearing time of 30 minutes is also pretty much tolerable if you do it once or twice a week. Once I fell asleep with these on and woke up an hour later. I’m happy to report that there was no issue with that either. The patches adhere well to the skin under eyes but they do not stick there on permanently and the removal process in very gentle.

The needles on the patch are quite sharp to begin with but they do not prickle or penetrate the skin. There was no issue with hurting or any pain/discomfort whatsoever. After 10 minutes you feel that the points are starting to get softer and eventually they dissolve after releasing all of the hyaluronic acid.

needles

As for the results. I’ve got incredible brightening effects that were visible for days after following the first application. Overall effects were cumulative and now, week after I’ve stopped using patches (because I’ve ran out of them) my skin is still bright and perky. I would definitely recommend these patches for anyone struggling with the crows feet and dark circles underneath the eye area. I’m putting these on my Christmas wishlist. Hey, Santa , wink-wink 😉

Summary:

Pros:
+ Sulfate, alcohol, paraben free formula
+ Contains loads of skin brightening and anti-aging ingredients
+ Great fit and adherence of the patches for the area under the eyes
+ Amazing effects of the dual treatment on my skin
+ Best skin  brightening product for under the eyes I’ve ever tried

Cons:
– Price is  quite steep for 4 patch sets
– The amount of cream is more than what you need for using with the patches
– Packaging haz zero description in English.

❇ Perfect Fitting Pad – A perfect fitting pad with good moisture retention that does not dry easily.
❇ The dark purple-blue of this product is not an artificial pigment but azulene’s unique color. The color is vulnerable to direct sunlight, and may fade during use, but this is not related to quality.

❇ As a quick mask/patch treatment: For intensive hydration, place the soothing pads onto areas where it feels dry. Leave it for 10 minutes.

Ingredients:

Water, glycerin, butylene glycol, 1,2-hexanediol, niacinamide, methyl gluceth-20, sodium hyaluronate, betaine, trehalose, erythritol, chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract, centella asiatica leaf water, madecassoside, aloe barbadensis leaf water, opunita coccinellifera, hydrogenated lecithin, ceramide np, octyldodecanol, caprylyl glycol, panthenol, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) extract, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) extract, origanum vulgare leaf/flower/stem extract, thymus vulgaris (thyme) extract, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, sodium guaiazulene sulfonate (25.6 mg), disodium edta, acrylates/c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, adenosine, arginine, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate / vp copolymer, propanediol, polyglyceryl-10 laurate, fragrance, ethylhexylglycerin

My experience:
close-up

I’ve kept my eye on these pads for some time now. Finally, when bunch of stuff in iHerb went on sale I managed to score them at around 15 euros which was a very good deal, considering the fact that the jar contains 70 pads! Do I like these? I love them! Why? Well, see for yourself.

First of all. The packaging is very neat and sturdy. Considering the whole thing was shipped from a different continent and my iHerb boxes come smashed 99% of the time, the entire thing survived the travel very well. The tub is transparant and inside you see neatly stacked pads which are submerged in the purple-blue tinted liquid. The hue may vary from tub to tub due to the fact that the essence is photo-sensitive. The container comes with small plastic tweezers that you should use to pick up the pads from the container. A very handy addition that I’d personally like to see in other brands (NEOGEN, please take a note). There is a little plastic shield sealing the whole thing that you should remove in order to get to the pads.

pads are very thin

Once the jar is open you sense some light fragrance. Upon vigorous sniffing I’ve figured it is a combination of white florals and lavender. Very light and pleasant smell that is not overwhelming nor artificial. The pads are composed of thin synthetic fabric that resembles thin sheet of felt. Careful, once you pick up pads they may drip a bit at first. Each pad contains a lot of essence. If you use it just to wipe and tone your face with, there is plenty to go over your face and neck and some of the Décolletage.

I tend to use these pads as a patch treatment after I do my cycling outdoors, or after going to the gym. As I tend to get a super-red face after sports, these are a must-have for me when I need to recover my face a.s.a.p. After 10-15 minutes application my cheeks are not glowing like a hot iron anymore. It never happens naturally within the same period of time so I know it is 100% the effect of these pads. And yes, you may say, well it is cooling your face, blood vessels are shrinking, hence less redness.

applied

I know, I thought of it as well and put it to the test. I’ve applied a regular sheet mask on my face and the results were quite poor in comparison to those pads. That’s why I am super amazed by how effective these pads are. I’ve tried using these as a quick make-up primer as well and they do an amazing job for it. If you have a sensitive and dry/dehydrated skin, these pads may become your holy grail. I know they are mine!

Summary:

Pros:
+ Silicone, Alcohol, Paraben, Sulfate free formulation
+ Rich in skin brightening, calming and anti-ging ingredients
+ Amazing skin cooling and calming effects if applied as patches
+ Comes with little pincet for hygienic use
+ Extremely hydrating for my oily skin
+ Beautifully glowy finish when used after toner

Cons:
– Hard to get in the EU
– Photo-sensitive, need to remember to keep it in the dark container (I use the original cardboard packaging)

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: Not Available
❇ Internationally: Available at iherb and  yesstyle

Ingredients:

Water, Methylpropanediol, Propanediol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Peg/Ppg-17/6 Copolymer, Panthenol, Glycerin, Betaine, Phytosphingosine, Betula Platyphylla Japonica Juice, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Water, Natto Gum, Corchorus Olitorius Leaf Extract, Monarda Didyma Leaf Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Spiraea Ulmaria Extract, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Allantoin, Beta-Glucan, Trehalose, Butylene Glycol, Trisodium Edta, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Tromethamine, Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Benzyl Alcohol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Parfum/Fragrance

My experience:

I was expecting a hydrogel mask. When you touch it in the packaging, the material it is made of feels thick and firm. Once I took it out of the pack I saw it was made from fabric and soaked in jelly-like essence, that’s why I got the gel vibe from it. The mask has a protective layer made from plastified gauze which comes in handy during the application. Outer packaging is clean and has a lot of information on the back that is written in 2 languages. Always nice to be able to read what you are putting on your face 🙂

There is plenty of transparant thick essence on the mask and left in the pack. I was able to coat half of my body in what was left in the pack. It feels like thick jelly but once it comes in contact with the skin it melts and becomes quite watery. There is a light fresh citrusy smell which is present throughout the entire application. Since the essence was so thick and the mask was extra saturated I was able to wear it for 30 minutes till I felt it was time to remove it.

applied

So what were the results you may ask? Hydration, smooth skin and even skin tone. Since the mask is very cooling in my face it seemed that it has brightened my face enormously. After 5 minutes once the blood returned to places it needed to be in, my face was left with a nice healthy glow and even tone but the brightened up look has returned to normal. I would definitely use more of these masks in the future. One thing I can think of is putting one of these into the fridge so that I can cool off my face after some hard-core exercise or a day in the sun. It definitely goes into my must-have list.

Pros:
+ Very clean ingredient list
+ Contains panthenol and allantoin for soothing skin
+ Pleasant fresh green-citrusy scent
+ Good fit of the mask
+ Unique texture of the mask and gauze
+ Great simple packaging with information in English and Korean

Cons:
– Contains fragrance (last on the list)
– Hard to come buy in EU
– Moderate adherence to my face due to the thick essence

Water Bomb Jelly Mask – Anti-Wrinkle by BERRISOM

Water Bomb Jelly Mask – Anti-Wrinkle by BERRISOM is yet another disappointment of mine from this brand. Actually this entire jelly mask series is not good for what it’s worth.

front
back
Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ A nourishing face mask for aging skin types.
❇ Offering instant and long-lasting anti-aging results, WaterBomb Jelly Mask – Anti Wrinkle deeply hydrates and smooths at surface level.
❇ Formulated with skin repairing ingredients like Pomegranate and Tomato, use as necessary to create a brighter, more youthful complexion.

Directions from the manufacturer:

Place mask over clean, dry skin. Leave for 15-20 minutes before removing. Dispose of mask and pat excess serum into the skin.

Ingredients:

Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Polyacrylic Acid, Dimethicone, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit Extract, Wine Extract, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Potassium Hydroxide, Cellulose Gum, Ethylhexylglycerin, Adenosine, Monascus Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Butylene Glycol, Gardenia Florida Fruit Extract, Tamarindus Indica Seed Polysaccharide, Trehalose, Mentha Spicata Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract Silica, Lecithin, Myrothamnus Flabellifolia Leaf Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Polyquaternium-51, Nasturtium Officinale Extract, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.

My experience:
contents

First of all, the packaging is nice and clear. It has all the necessary descriptions available in english and an easy opening. Once you open the bag you are knocked out by the strong scent of the gel. And by strong I mean very strong. I can live with strongly scented masks but not with these water bomb jelly maks. All of them have kind of similar scent that is verging chemical citronella/artificial lemon fragrance and something very sickening sweet, worse than a cotton candy.

applied

After you get used to the scent (joking, you never will), it’s time to get the sheet out. It comes out with a big blob of pinkish jelly attached to it. But once jelly contacts your skin, it starts melting down into more watery consistency and eventually dripping down the chin. As for the fit and adherence of the mask, both are excellent. The fabric of this mask series is made of the similar synthetic material that is used in Blithe masks. So what about the results?

jello-like essence

Each of the masks in this series are made to hydrate your skin. And they are pretty good at doing so. Unfortunately they are too overpriced for the results. they deliver on my dehydrated skin.  The claim of 120 hours of moisture is far fetched. It doesn’t last for 24h either. I’d say 8-12 hours at most and then you need to consider some other mask. No any other results spotted. Will I be buying it again? No. I don’t want to sound like a nagging Nancy but this entire series is a huge fail from the brand.

Summary:

Pros:
+ Cute packaging
+ Amazing fit and adherence
+ Paraben, sulfate and alcohol free formula

Cons:
– Bad smell of the essence
– Wonky consistency of the essence
– Overpriced
– Zero skin lightening results besides basic hydration
– Contains fragrance and silicone

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: bbcreamshop.eu and littlewonderland.nl
❇ Internationally: Available at amazon and beautybay
❇ Price is +/- 4€ per one sheet mask

Laneige Lip Sleeping mask (Berry)

Laneige Lip Sleeping mask is a very raved product on the web. I was avoiding testing it for as long as I could but with the latest hot summer my lips are chappier than they’ve ever been so I had to purchase it. Here is what I think of the Berry version of the sleeping mask.

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ Lip Sleeping Mask has a softening balm texture that closely adheres to lips for quick absorption.
❇ Enriched with vitamin C and antioxidants, its Berry Mix Complex™ offers a nutritiously sweet and fragrant blend of raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, and blueberry extracts to indulge the senses.
❇ Exclusive Moisture Wrap™ technology boasts hyaluronic acid and minerals to form a protective film over the lips to lock in moisture and active ingredients.
❇ A generous layer of this soothing mask at bedtime helps reduce flakiness so you can wake up to lips that feel refreshed, supple, and soft to the touch.
❇ An exclusive technology that features a mineral network of moisture-rich beta-glucan to form an 8-hour time-release moisturizing layer over skin. It locks in active ingredients and mineral water.
❇ Rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants from a nutritious blend of raspberries, strawberries, cranberries, goji berries and blueberries, Berry Mix Complex soothes and softens, revealing smooth, supple lips.

Directions from the manufacturer:

Apply a liberal amount to your lips with the spatula at night. Gently wipe your lips clean with a tissue the next morning to remove dead skin cells.

Ingredients:

Diisostearyl Malate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Phytosteryl/Isostearyl/Cetyl/Stearyl/Behenyl Dimer Dilinoleate, Hydrogenated C6-14 Olefin Polymers, Polybutene, Microcrystalline Wax, Shea Butter, Synthetic Wax, Candelilla Wax, Sucrose Tetrastearate Triacetate, Hydrogenated Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer, Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene Copolymer, Mica, Astrocaryum murumuru Seed Butter, Titanium Dioxide, Dimethicone, Aromatics, Polyglyceryl-2 Diisostearate, Dehydroacetic Acid, Methicone, Carnauba Wax, Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate, CI 15985, CI 15850, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Water, Potassium Alginate, Propanediol, Glycerin, Alcohol, Lycium Fruit Extract, Cranberry Fruit Extract, Strawberry Fruit Extract, Raspberry Fruit Extract, Sapindus mukurossi Fruit Extract, Blueberry Fruit Extract,  Rubus chamaemorus Seed Extract, Coffee Extract, Chenopodium quinoa Seed Extract, Magnesium Sulfate, Calcium Chloride, Sodium Hyaluronate, Beta-Glucan, Manganese Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Ascorbyl Glucoside

My experience:

The Lip Sleeping Mask from Laneige is available in 4 different scents: Vanilla, Berry, Grapefruit and Apple-Lime. These lip products claim to gently melt away the dead skin layer and to repair dry lips overnight. The little plastic jar contains 20 grams of product. There are also mini travel versions available in the web that have 3 grams respectively.

The packaging of this is very pretty. The container is made of matte plastic and the lid matches the color of the outside packaging. The spatula applicator of the berry lip mask is also the same color as the paper box the mask comes in. Inside the jar there is an opaque pink cream that looks like wax at the first glance but has a very soft texture. It resembles those vaseline-based lip glosses that melt over your lips and are not tacky to the touch.

I used this mask for 2 weeks daily and to be honest I don’t see much improvement in condition of my lips. And yes I drink around 4 liters of water per day so I am not dehydrated if you wee wondering that it may be the cause. What I did notice is that my lips were smoother to the touch. Unfortunately chapping part was not influenced at all. I tried to use the lip peeling scrub and the sleeping lip mask together before going to sleep. No success there either.

I am somewhat disappointed in this product. I  guess reading all the reviews online made me think it is a miracle product which it is absolutely not. Not for me at least. From my previous buys I can say with 100% certainty that the classic lanolin-based lip balm and madecanol balm work much better than Laneige when it comes to the lip care. I will still use this product but more as a daily lip gloss. Wil lI repurchase it?? No.

Pros:
+ Paraben and sulfate free formulaiton
+ Rich in antioxidants and hyaluronic acid
+ Nice amount of product in the jar
+ Beautiful packaging + bonus spatula for hygienic application
+ Softens lips without making them tacky

Cons:
– Contains alcohol and silicones
– Does very little to the lips in terms of hydration and moisture retention
– Expensive for a lip balm quality product

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: littlewonderland.nl and bol.com
❇ Internationally: Available at sephora, laneige.com and amazon
❇ Price is 18,95€ per 20 ml jar of product

ADORLÉE Lavender Brightening Restorative Firming Mask

ADORLÉE Lavender Brightening Restorative Firming Mask is a sheet mask that blew my mind off in terms of amazing skin calming and plumping results. The scent of this one is also incredibly pleasant and relaxing.

Remove and gently massage the remaining essence from package into skin.
Do not rinse after use.

Ingredients:

Water, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Panthenol, Taurine, Beta-Glucan, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Propanediol, Allantoin, Jojoba Wax PEG-120 Esters, Alpha-Bisabolol, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Bambusa Textilis Stem Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Disodium EDTA, Glyceryl Caprylate, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PPG-26-Buteth-26, Potassium Hydroxide, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil

My experience:

This sheet mask was a random buy during one of the visits to the local TKmaxx shop. It was just hanging there so lonely on the rack that I thought “I’ll give you a try, darling”. This particular mask came in a multi-pack of 6 that i am very excited about.

The packaging of the mask is very minimal. Too minimal I would say. I have to keep the original box otherwise I won’t know what’s in the sachet. The sheet of this mask comes with a plastic protection layer so that it applies better onto the skin. It is quite handy to have the protector as the mask fabric is very light and thin. It went on effortlessly and stayed put on my face for 25 minutes!!!! YES! I could manage wearing it for so long in 33ºC heat without it drying out.

The scent on this mask is very strong. It smells exactly the same as my  aromatherapy oils that I use in bath. It is not artificial or clingy to my nose and disappears fast after the mask is off my face. I checked my skin 10 minutes after I removed the mask. It was glowing!!! there was not oily type of glow, it was radiant from within. The red spots that I have on my cheeks from time to time were gone. I felt that my skin was very plumped and hydrated. I didn’t care for any moisturizer after I did this mask and went to bed. The results were still there the next morning. I was so impressed by it that I went back to the store and got myself another pack of this mask.

Summary:

Pros:
+ Paraben, Sulfate and Alcohol free formilation
+ Contains skin brightening ingredients
+ Great lavender scent
+ Great fit and adherence
+ Great essence that feels very light and is not sticky at all
+ Excellent at hydrating and calming my skin down

Cons:
– Lack of information on the packaging of the mask itself
– Hard to buy it online

Where to buy:
❇  NL and BE: TKmaxx shops
❇  Internationally: Available at adorlee, bestbuy and amazon
❇  Price is 35€ for the 6-pack
