MIZON Apple Smoothie Peeling Gel

MIZON Apple Smoothie Peeling Gel is a decent product for it’s price. Beware though! It does contain several non-friendly ingredients so people who have a sensitive skin should stay away from it.

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ This ultra-gentle exfoliating gel rids the skin of dead skin cells and dirt without harsh chemicals or skin-irritating microbeads. We see why this has received so much love in Korea.
❇ Natural papaya extract contains papain which “digests” dead and/or damaged skin tissue while leaving new, healthy tissue intact for incredibly easy and effective exfoliation
❇ Apple extract contains natural alpha hydroxy acids which further contributes to gentle exfoliation for smoother, brighter skin. Apple is also astringent, tightening pores and helping to clear acne-causing agents
❇ Citrus extracts brighten skin to make it clearer and more radiant

Directions from the manufacturer:

Use 2-3 times weekly. Wash face, dry face and leave the gel on for 1-2 minutes. Gently massage the gel on the face and then rinse off with lukewarm water. Concentrate the product on dry flakes and pores to buff skin to a smooth finish.

Ingredients:

Water, Cellulose, Butylene Glycol, Propylene Glycol, Alcohol, Polysorbate 20, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Glycolic Acid, Disodium EDTA, Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit/Leaf Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract,  Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Acer Saccharium (Sugar Maple) Extract, Sclerotium Gum, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Water, Sodium Hyaluronate, Gypsophila Paniculata Root Extract, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Propylparaben, Methylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance

My experience:
gel is very thick and has a pleasant scent to it

I’ve got a confession to make. I barely use my peeling creams and gels. I never had found one that would satisfy my nose and my wallet untill I’ve met the MIZON brand product. It is very comparable to the peeling gel from Secret Key but I’m not a big fan of it’s scent. MIZON apple fragrance (which is added into the product) is not strong and reminds me of juicy green apples. You only need a little of the product to cover up your entire face if you don’t exfoliate any other areas of your body. In my case, what you see on the picture is the amount for my face, neck, décolleté and elbows (yes, got rough skin the and this stuff works wonders on dry patches).

applied

As with every peeling gel, it is fairly simple in use. I like to leave it on for 5 minutes before actually starting to rub. Out f experience with other similar products, it loosens up the dead skin cells more productively and I don’t need to roll the gel around my face (and body) for too long. I tend to use this peeling right before I hop into the shower. In that way I don’t neet to meddle around my sink an can wash the product debris off within seconds.

The gel is very gentle and effective and meets it’s claims. My skin is left soft and supple after use. It doesn’t scream for moisture after I walk out of the shower. I proceed with my skin care and apply a toner and a hydrating mask afterwards to rebalance my skin. Is it the best of the bunch? Not really. I do prefer this one over other brand only due to the fact that it has a pleasant smell to it. For the rest, my MISSHA Super Aqua Oxygen Micro Visible Deep Cleanser peeling does a better job at nourishing and hydrating my skin.

Laneige Lip Sleeping mask (Berry)

Laneige Lip Sleeping mask is a very raved product on the web. I was avoiding testing it for as long as I could but with the latest hot summer my lips are chappier than they’ve ever been so I had to purchase it. Here is what I think of the Berry version of the sleeping mask.

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ Lip Sleeping Mask has a softening balm texture that closely adheres to lips for quick absorption.
❇ Enriched with vitamin C and antioxidants, its Berry Mix Complex™ offers a nutritiously sweet and fragrant blend of raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, and blueberry extracts to indulge the senses.
❇ Exclusive Moisture Wrap™ technology boasts hyaluronic acid and minerals to form a protective film over the lips to lock in moisture and active ingredients.
❇ A generous layer of this soothing mask at bedtime helps reduce flakiness so you can wake up to lips that feel refreshed, supple, and soft to the touch.
❇ An exclusive technology that features a mineral network of moisture-rich beta-glucan to form an 8-hour time-release moisturizing layer over skin. It locks in active ingredients and mineral water.
❇ Rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants from a nutritious blend of raspberries, strawberries, cranberries, goji berries and blueberries, Berry Mix Complex soothes and softens, revealing smooth, supple lips.

Directions from the manufacturer:

Apply a liberal amount to your lips with the spatula at night. Gently wipe your lips clean with a tissue the next morning to remove dead skin cells.

Ingredients:

Diisostearyl Malate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Phytosteryl/Isostearyl/Cetyl/Stearyl/Behenyl Dimer Dilinoleate, Hydrogenated C6-14 Olefin Polymers, Polybutene, Microcrystalline Wax, Shea Butter, Synthetic Wax, Candelilla Wax, Sucrose Tetrastearate Triacetate, Hydrogenated Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer, Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene Copolymer, Mica, Astrocaryum murumuru Seed Butter, Titanium Dioxide, Dimethicone, Aromatics, Polyglyceryl-2 Diisostearate, Dehydroacetic Acid, Methicone, Carnauba Wax, Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate, CI 15985, CI 15850, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Water, Potassium Alginate, Propanediol, Glycerin, Alcohol, Lycium Fruit Extract, Cranberry Fruit Extract, Strawberry Fruit Extract, Raspberry Fruit Extract, Sapindus mukurossi Fruit Extract, Blueberry Fruit Extract,  Rubus chamaemorus Seed Extract, Coffee Extract, Chenopodium quinoa Seed Extract, Magnesium Sulfate, Calcium Chloride, Sodium Hyaluronate, Beta-Glucan, Manganese Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Ascorbyl Glucoside

My experience:

The Lip Sleeping Mask from Laneige is available in 4 different scents: Vanilla, Berry, Grapefruit and Apple-Lime. These lip products claim to gently melt away the dead skin layer and to repair dry lips overnight. The little plastic jar contains 20 grams of product. There are also mini travel versions available in the web that have 3 grams respectively.

The packaging of this is very pretty. The container is made of matte plastic and the lid matches the color of the outside packaging. The spatula applicator of the berry lip mask is also the same color as the paper box the mask comes in. Inside the jar there is an opaque pink cream that looks like wax at the first glance but has a very soft texture. It resembles those vaseline-based lip glosses that melt over your lips and are not tacky to the touch.

I used this mask for 2 weeks daily and to be honest I don’t see much improvement in condition of my lips. And yes I drink around 4 liters of water per day so I am not dehydrated if you wee wondering that it may be the cause. What I did notice is that my lips were smoother to the touch. Unfortunately chapping part was not influenced at all. I tried to use the lip peeling scrub and the sleeping lip mask together before going to sleep. No success there either.

I am somewhat disappointed in this product. I  guess reading all the reviews online made me think it is a miracle product which it is absolutely not. Not for me at least. From my previous buys I can say with 100% certainty that the classic lanolin-based lip balm and madecanol balm work much better than Laneige when it comes to the lip care. I will still use this product but more as a daily lip gloss. Wil lI repurchase it?? No.

Pros:
+ Paraben and sulfate free formulaiton
+ Rich in antioxidants and hyaluronic acid
+ Nice amount of product in the jar
+ Beautiful packaging + bonus spatula for hygienic application
+ Softens lips without making them tacky

Cons:
– Contains alcohol and silicones
– Does very little to the lips in terms of hydration and moisture retention
– Expensive for a lip balm quality product

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: littlewonderland.nl and bol.com
❇ Internationally: Available at sephora, laneige.com and amazon
❇ Price is 18,95€ per 20 ml jar of product

MISSHA Super Aqua Pore-Kling Bubble Sheet mask

I do use a lot of MISSHA products because they are easiest to get and do well on my skin. Over time I’ve discovered that their products have a lot of hidden functions in them. This review is about one of them, my most favorite masks of all times from this brand is the Pore-Kling Bubble sheet mask.

Claims from the manufacturer:
❇ 1. Micro-bubbles provide total pore care
Fine bubble carbonation leaves pores feeling clean and refreshed and also improves elasticity
❇ 2. Like a glass of sparkling water for the skin
Sparkling water from Naples, enriched with minerals such as calcium and potassium, moisturizes and revitalizes skin

CO2 is supplied to the skin through a process that purifies it and improves its overall health.
❇ You are likely to experience a bubbling sensation during use. Tingling sensation produces dramatic results!
Directions from the manufacturer:
After cleansing, prep skin with toner and apply Step 1 (CO2 Pore Gel) all over the face, avoiding the eye area. Apply Step 2 (CO2 Pore Mask) over Step 1 (CO2 Pore Gel), and lightly press to help skin absorb product. After 10-20 minutes, remove the mask and any excess gel. Rinse well with lukewarm water.
Ingredients:

Pore Gel:
Water, Glycerin, Methylpropanediol, Niacinamide, Cellulose Gum, PotassiumAlginate, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Fruit Extract, Myrciaria Dubia Fruit Extract, Mentha Rotundifolia Leaf Extract, Water (Carbonated Water), Tocopheryl Acetate, Polysorbate 20, Panthenol, Adenosine,1,2-Hexanediol, Propanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, lllicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract Chlorphenesin, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance

Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric acid, Cellulose Gum, Vinyl, CaprolactamNP/Dimethylaminoethyl Methacrylate Copolymer,Vaccinium MyrtillusFruit /Leaf Extract SaccharumOfficinarum(SugarCane)Extract Acer Saccharum(SugarMaple) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract Ascorbic acid, Onsen-Sui,Water

My experience:

A lot of people may think this is a strange product and I would agree with them. This mask is a 2-step program with gel and dry sheet mask that you apply over the gel. Despite the difficulties with application and 15 minute wait, this mask leaves me with the most smoothest baby skin. My 1 year old  baby is even jealous of it 🙂

The packaging on this mask is not too handy. In order to get to the step 1 you have to cut the sachet with the gel off and only then open it, otherwise it’s a one big jelly mess. The gel is transparent an has a slime-like consistency. It does stay put on the face which is remarkable. First time I used it I was afraid it will drip everywhere but no such thing happened. The gel smells a bit citrusy and the scent disappears in seconds after you apply it onto your face.

The step 2 is a 2-piece sheet mask made of thick paper that is not too bendy. You have to really press it onto the gel and that’s when the magic starts happening. The fit of the sheet is great. It could cover a much larger face than mine with no problem.

Ince the gel comes in contact with the sheet you hear crackling sounds and feel the tingling of your skin. It lasts for about 5 minutes on me and is then replaced by a slightly warm sensation. I can literally feel my pores opening up.

Another 10 minutes and I remove the paper sheet. You do have to wash of the excess gel. I typically do it wit a simple washcloth and warm water. It comes off quite easily and I am left with very clean skin. After patting the face dry leave your skin alone for 10-20 minutes. The pink tint will go away and you will feel whether your skin needs extra moisture layer or not.  With this mask I usually use only need to use the toner and  I can immediately apply my make-up over it.

Now to the best part. My make-up lasts me all day. Skin remains oil- and shine free. It’s velvety, baby smooth and plump. I call this mask “my pocket cosmetologist” because I do feel pampered after it. I tend to get stuck on one type of product for a while but I am making promise now that I will start getting out of my comfort zone and getting more different masks for reviews  so more bubble peeling products will be introduces to me and you, my reader.

Pros:
+ Alcohol, sulfate and paraben free formula
+ Contains niacinamide, adenosine and vitamine E
+ Unique in use
+ Amazing skin smoothing  and brightening results
+ Great base for make-up that needs to stay on for an entire day
+ Hydrating, peelung  yet gentle for the skin

Cons:
– Gel contains fragrance (last item on the list)
– Step 2 contains 1 silicone ingredient
– Packaging would be handier in use if there would have been a perforated separation stripe

Where to buy:
