Hello everyone! It is finally time for my monthly “What is old? What is new?” edition of reviews summarizing the beauty items that I’ve used up and introducing the new content to my blog. December was very busy month and that is why this review is appearing later than expected. It is still better late than never 🙂
“What is old? What is new?” is a category of themed reviews where I am
A) giving a short sum-up on the products that I’ve finished and
B) showing you some sneak-previews of newly attained products that will be reviewed in coming months.
* You can always message me about the products listed in the post for a fast-track review.
As usually, today’s first half of the post is the “Empties” category with a short sum-up of what I thought of the product after finishing it. The “Newcomers” products are listed more towards the end of this post and more thorough reviews that are going to gradually appear on my blog sometime soon.
In order to save some reading space on the web I won’t be reviewing every sheet mask that I’ve use in the past month because the regular sheet mask reviews are appearing here on the blog as a normal content. For all of the Empties I will be using the 5 point scoring system in order to rate each product based on whether I repurchase it or not:
– Holy Grail, will probably purchase it up until I retire
– Excellent product, will consider repurchasing it (unless I stumble across a better alternative)
– Good one for overal use but there is definitely a better known alternative for it
– Not impressive or not performing well on my skin
– Waste of money (try before you buy)
Ampoules and treatments
I honestly did not understand this product. It was mosturizing and a bit sticky on my face making it a decent base for under the make-up. Still, it doesn’t justify it’s price for what it is. Sorry, DIOR, better luck next time.
The mattifying fluid was better than the protecting fluid for sure. It did blur out my pores and had no residue nor tacky finish on my skin. It was kind on my oily skin and didn’t clog my pores causing breakouts. Still, would not purchase it as there are far more better products out there.
Holy grail of inexpensive acid treatments for the face. I am always using this one when it gets colder outside and it does an amazing job resurfacing fresh glowy skin. I would advise the 5% to anyone who is just starting on their acid peel journey as this one is so gentle on the skin.
This product is the follow up of my 5% peeling. I use it after my 5% runs because that is the time when my skin has built a decent tolerance towards lactic acid. If you have sensitive skin get 5%, if your skin is thick and reacts to no products you can immediately start on this one.1 x every other day is perfect for the beginners.
I did not like this serum. I’m glad I only had a sample of it from the kit. It has a lot of tint to it making skin look visibly pale but it did very little to brighten it from within. I saw little to no results in terms of reducing my hyperpigmentation.
A great ampoule that helps the skin renewal process to go smoother and visibly faster. It will not heal the existing problems on your skin such as acne scars. Instead it simply reduces the texture on the skin by smoothing it all out overnight. I love the smell of it too.
Toners, lotions and emulsions
Nop. Don’t get this one. My husband got it for himself in a set and didn’t like any of the products from this line I ended up using it on my body and there were no results. Zero. Nada. Nul. You could also smell the alcohol from miles away with this one.
Same as the above except the alcohol content in this product is even greater than in the emulsion. Absolutely worthless piece of skincare.
Another disappointing product by MISSHA. This jelly mist was performing ok on the skin when used as a solo product, but once you tried to apply something over it, the product was balling off the skin in chunks. I’ve ended up using it on my body which is ok but a bit too expensive for that purpose.
Good but not great. The name lotion is kind of disturbing since this product is actually a toner. I used it to wipe my face with after sports or before actual toning or 7 skin method. I am not sure whether Lancaster makes it anymore but I do not think this product is worth it’s price. It leaves a very squeaky feel behind on the skin.
Absolute must-have for those with sensitive skin. It has no scent and hydrates skin in just 2 layers. The consistency is watery but it has almost oily finish to it once you start spreading it on the skin. It dries down to zero finish and makes a perfect base for the make-up for oily skin. I will definitely repurchase it in full size for summer.
My total obsession during last 3 months. I used it day and night as well as in 7 skin method. The smell is so luxurious and I love how the bergamot notes open on my skin. It is very thick and bouncy and can leave a tacky finish on the skin if you over apply it. I ended up pouring it into small sprayer and took it with me everywhere I went. My skin is so happy and glowy after using it. The next bottle is already in the mail.
Very good alternative for those who don’t like their toners bouncy or rich. This version of WHAMISA is much lighter and runnier in texture. The smell is slightly different that the Deep Rich toner. The skin is very hydrated yet not overwhelmed with this product. I’d advise it for those with acne prone oily skin. You will benefit from this product when it is super hot outside.
Great and affordable cotton pads. The massive amount of 160 pads ensures a long time use of these. I usually stock up on these for my blackhead treatments and take these to journeys as these save a lot of space yet as effective as other pads.
Good pads but not great. Unfortunately also very expensive. If I compare these to the classic Embossed pads by MISSHA I still prefer them over the Water-Jet puffs. What is odd about these is that you tend to over-apply the product on them because they seem thick. What happens in reality is that you end up wasting a lot of product.
Truly amazing from top to bottom. It moisturizes and smooths down my wrinkles overnight and I already miss it so much. I fell in love with all the HUXLEY masks and will be using them next year as I’ve already purchased several full-size products when they were on Black Friday Sale.
Terror in a tube. It stinks like dirty socks and leaves a greasy finish on the skin. It also has some scrubbing particles that do very little on the skin. This mask is also supposed to warm up during use which never happened. Veeery disappointed in this product and would not advise it to anyone.
True masterpiece from BLITHE. I own all 3 kinds of these splash masks but the purple one is by far my favorite. I use it in the shower or in a spray bottle mixed with distilled water. I usually spray the mix on the cotton pad and wipe my face with it. It contains acids that smoothen my skin in two minutes. Absolutely in love with the fresh berry scent.
A typical make-up remover that leaves an oily film over the eyes. It does a good job at removing my waterproof make-up but I would not repurchase it. There are so many removers that achieve the same-result. This one doesn’t remove my Isehan mascara so it’s a pass for me.
This cleanser was ok. At first I liked the scent of it which was very fresh and reminded me of the beach. After about 2 weeks it became very nauseating. The scrubbing particles in this one are very hard to find so don’t get it if you are looking for a scrubby type of cleanser.
There a very little products out there that I could call garbage. Unfortunately this one was one of them. These pads are so harsh that they cased an irritation around my eyes while barely removing any make-up. A total fail. Please don’t buy these, your skin will thank you for it.
My absolute love in perfumery. Too bad they don’t make this scent anymore. It is so elegant and feminine and odd at the same time. I made it last as long as I could. Today is the day I say the last goodbyes to it.
Another great perfume that is discontinued and now released in new formulation this year. the 2018 version is just not the same. This edt version has lasted on my skin for much longer than the newly released edp version.
Very girly spring scent that I use in the cold mont only because it makes the bergamot notes in it so vivid. An absolute best from the house of CHLOE.
NOLA Lemon Verbena shower gel (not available)
This shower gel was ok. Being SLS free it barely lathered but the smell of it was very fresh and summery. The bottle has lasted me for a very long time. I would recommend it ti you if you see it in stores. I can’t find it online anymore so it may be discontinued.
Good fresh moisturizer for the body. It doesn’t pill up on the skin and the scent of Mojito is very interesting. It does smell more of limes than mint.
Another cool summery body moisturizer with a light texture. I do prefer these for in the summer but since I ran out of everything else I had to use it now in December. It did a good job ant keeping my skin from drying out.
This oil is very luxurious and relaxing. I sometimes added it into my bath water just for the scent. Together with the scrub from this line they made my skin velvety smooth despite the cold dry winter air.
Smells great, pills on my skin. Didn’t like it as much as the rest of the products from this line.
Loved this hand cream a lot. The downside of it is the price. I will buy it again when it is on sale.
An absolute beauty for those who like to relax in the tub. The set has bath bombs and oil infused soaps for a luxury spa experience at home. The set makes it an awesome gift for any age category. Yet again, the price is higher than average but it is worth splurging once in a while.
As for the newest items in my stash I’ve focused on getting more sheet masks and little skin care items here and there. I’ve ended up buying several Phytochemicals sheet masks by MISSHA and sheet masks from BENTON. Knowing that these brands have been very trustworthy in the past I could not say no to new things. I’ve also gotten some interesting skincare products from Thank You Farmer for under the Christmas tree that I am currently vigorously testing out. Sneak peek – great stuff for those with dry, thinning, aging skin!
