Last month I’ve purchased the illi Camelia  oil nourishing mask as a part of a monthly sheet mask subscription box (Wonder box) from the Dutch littlewonderland webshop. I wanted to try this brand for a very long time but I was never able to find any of these masks in the retail within my reach (I know, I know, Korean websites sell it but with all the shipping and handling and import taxes plus the long shipping times I was quite frankly lazy to go through all of the hassle). I was super happy to see this exemplar in the April Wonder box mask pack so I did order it this time without any hesitation.

Claims from the manufacturer:

Couldn’t find the retailer webshop, so can’t say anything with certainty as I don’t read Korean to be able to translate for you what it says on the back side of the pack.

Ingredients:

Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Cyclohexasiloxane , Cyclopentasiloxane, PEG-32 , 1,2-Hexanediol , Isopropyl Palmitate , Isopropyl Myristate , Sodium Hyaluronate , Phenoxyethanol , Glyceryl Stearate , PEG-100 Stearate , Polysorbate 60, Acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, Arginine , Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer , Ethylhexylglycerin , Natto gum, Panax Ginseng Root Extract , Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance

My experience:

From the pack it smells like a flower. The essence is milky-white and not runny. The sheet was thick an very damp. Application was fairly simple and there was no mess at all. Once I applied it onto my face it started to smell more like coconuts.

I had some above average hopes for this Camelia oil mask. Unfortunately after the mask was off my face my skin felt like it still needed moisture. It also didn’t feel nourished. What I did like a lot is that my face didn’t have a hint of tackiness as it often happens. All of the essence seemed to be absorbed into my skin.

Pros:
+ Paraben, alcohol, sulfate-free ingredients
+ Pretty, girly packaging. Looks like traditional Chinese flower paintings
+ Nicely scented
+ Easy to apply
+ Good adherence to the face once it’s on
+ Skin is not tacky after application

Cons:
– No description in English on the back of the mask
– Difficult to find online within the EU shops
– Didn’t do much for my face
– Needs more cut-out edges for a better fit
– 3 of the current ingredients are comedogenic, people with active acne, watch out for this one

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: unfortunately the shop I bought it from doesn’t sell this mask loose
❇ Internationally: This mask is sometimes available on amazon and ebay websites, otherwise try the Korean online shops
❇ Price: Varies from 8-15€ for a 10-pack

Thank you for reading!

Yours truly, Kati 🙂
