BIO-CELL Firming Face Mask by The Face Shop

I got the BIO-CELL Firming Face Mask by The Face Shop as a part of a monthly sheet mask subscription. Here is what I think of it.

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ This firming mask features a naturally adhesive bio-cellulose sheet and a Collagen serum.
❇ It restores elasticity and firmness to give you baby-like skin.
❇ Dermatologist Tested / Formulated without added parabens.

Application directions from the manufacturer:

1. Cleanse and tone face. Remove mask from package and unfold.
2. Peel off protective sheet on one side of mask.
3. Place mask on face with the other protective sheet on the outside.
4. Remove remaining protective sheet.
5. Remove mask after 10 to 20 minutes and gently pat to promote absorption of remaining serum.

Ingredients:

Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Alcohol Denat., Glycereth-26, 1,2-Hexanediol, Panthenol, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Desamido Collagen, Proline, Hydroxyproline, Glycine, Cholesterol, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Phenyl Trimethicone, Allantoin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance

My experience:

The BIO-CELL Firming Face mask is contained between 2 protective sheets, blue and white. I first removed the harder white layer and applied mask onto my clean face. Afterwards I removed the blue protective sheet and smoothed the cellulose sheet over my face so that there are no bubbles left in between. It took me about two minutes to finish the application process which is quite a lot of time for me.

The bio cellulose sheet is very thin and translucent. It is lightly scented and to my nose it smelled like lavender and citrus. The smell was quite calming and it was present the whole time while I was wearing the mask. I kept it on for about 20-25 minutes and then peeled it off my face. With these type of masks the longer you wear them, the better they adhere. I managed to do some laundry and dishes while it stayed on my face without moving around.

After removing the sheet my skin looked radiant! there were no traces of the thin wrinkles around my eyes and at my laugh lines. My 2 main wrinkles on the forehead were much less noticeable. The effect at my laugh line area lasted for the entire day. Very impressive for a person who smiles as much as I do. Besides the major difference in my wrinkles appearance I have noticed that my skin felt hydrated and well nourished.  It definitely felt rejuvenated and I even got a compliment from my husband that I looked different. Good different 🙂

My final verdict? I want more of these masks in my arsenal! The BIO-CELL Firming Face Mask by The Face Shop did much more than I expected and it instantly became one of my  favorites. I will be trying to get my hands on more of the BIO-CELL sheet masks from this line to test them out and I will definitely let you know about them once I get them.

Pros:
+ Paraben and sulfate free
+ Excellent fit and adherence to the face
+ Excellent moisturizing and skin firming results after 1 use
+ Great at evening out my face wrinkles
+ Light lavender-citrucy fragrance
+ Zero stickiness, perfect base for the make-up

Cons:
– Contains alcohol and fragrance

Birch Juice Hydro Sleeping Pack Travel Kit by E Nature

Summer is a perfect time for some travel approved skin care posts. Luggages can get lost, things from the inside can be stolen, glass packaging often breaks or opens inside the suitcase. All the reasons for me to ty out some new and travel-friendly. I usually try not to take too much of the products with me on my trips and I always go for something small that would last me week or two on my trips. A good example of the travel skin care is the Birch Juice Hydro Sleeping Pack Travel Kit by E Nature.

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ Travel-friendly set containing two mini-sized Birch Juice Hydro Sleeping Pack
❇ Hydrating and nourishing formula containing 74% birch tree sap instead of regular H2O to boost moisturizing power
❇ Improves skin elasticity and calms irritated skin
❇ For all skin types (especially dry, normal, and sensitive skin)
❇ Paraben-free, mineral oil-free, artificial fragrance-free, cruelty-free, vegan, recyclable packaging, skin safety tested
❇ (18 ml / 0.6 oz) *2

Directions from the manufacturer:

Apply an appropriate amount to the skin at night and let it absorb overnight. Rinse off with lukewarm water in the morning.

Ingredients:

Betula platyphylla japonica juice, Caprylic/capric triglyceride, Cyclopentasiloxane, Butylene glycol, Glycereth-26, Glycerin, PEG/PPG-18/4 copolymer, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/sodium acryloyldimethyl taurate copolymer, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan oleate, Betaine, Ethyl hexanediol, Dimethicone/vinyl dimethicone crosspolymer, Glyceryl caprylate, Trehalose, Fragrance, Xanthan gum, Disodium EDTA, Carthamus tinctorius (safflower) oleosomes, Chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract, Plantago ovata seed extract, Tocopheryl acetate, Hydrogenated lecithin, Polyglyceryl-10 stearate, Panthenol, Sodium ascorbyl phosphate, Glyceryl arachidonate, Glyceryl linolenate, Biotin, Folic acid, Pyridoxine, Cyanocobalamin

My experience:

E Nature’s Birch Juice Hydro Sleeping Pack is doing very little to my skin. I took it to the test run to the sunny Cape Verde and was quite disappointed with this product.

The manufacturer claims that this specific sleeping mask is intensely hydrating sleeping product due to the birch juice and other hydrating ingredients. Don’t want to upset anyone, but my daily clear cream (the completely transparant one) by MISSHA which is also birch juice based was doing a better job in terms of moisturizing an hydrating my skin. If you have a dry or very dry skin it would probably do nothing to your skin at all.

I do like that it contains 18 ml of product in it. Quite a good amount for the price. On the other hand it is still too much for a product that does so little. When it comes to the packaging, it is made very bulky making it look bigger than what the actual content is. I presume it is a traditional Korean style because few other “travel/mini” products from the brands like Laneige and MISSHA use similar if not the same jars. For me as a traveller, the size does matter. The smaller the container, the better it is for stashing it in my travel cosmetic bag.

You may wonder about how this cream actually looks and applies. The cream has a white gel consistency and has one of the thiner formulations that I’ve encountered so far. It is not entirely runny, but if I place a blob (pea size amount) of it on my skin it quickly slides down my face or drips off it. Sensitive skin people, be warned, this cream has a strong scent! It reminds me of a mixture of citronella and herbs. It feels like one of those masking type fragrances that are used to neutralize unwanted odors. The smell stays on your skin for a very long time, I could still sense it in the morning.

Upon wakening the scent was pretty much the only thing remaining on my face. Every morning when I used it I was left with mediocre hydration. It seemed that the cream just had enough moisturizing power in it that kept my skin from entirely drying out overnight in an air conditioned room. As for the other claims such as soothing, calming e.t.c. No results there at all. Zero. Nada. Null. Overall conclusion for this cream? Pass!!!

Pros:
+ Sulfate, paraben and alcohol free formulation
+ Main ingredient is Birch juice and not water
+ Contains vitamine E, Biotin, Folic Acid and Lecithin
+ Light texture that absorbs easily into the skin
+ Doesn’t break me out the next morning
+ Handy to take with you on a journey

Cons:
– Contains strong fragrance
– Very liquid formula for a sleeping mask
– Very little to no results on my skin the next day
– May not be suitable for very sensitive skin
– Packaging is quite bulky for the contents

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: littlewonderland.nl
❇ Internationally: Available at amazon and enature.us
❇ Price is +/- 10€ per two 18ml jars

My experience:

The Time Revolution Night Repair Science Activator Ampoule is a wonderful product if your skin needs extra moisture. What stuns me the most is how good it is at calming the redness of my skin. My skin feels smooth to the touch and is very supple thanks to this wonderful ampoule.

A lot of people compare it to the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Sychronized recovery complex II. I personally think that MISSHA’s creation is way better than  the one made by Estée Lauder. Virtually consistency and color wise they are identical. Ingredient wise MISSHA trumps the EL serum in trifold. That is also noticeable by my skin.

I apply this serum before going to bed. That way it stays put on my skin for several hours and when I wake up my skin is feeling and looking amazing!  I do notice a big difference when I sometimes skip it in my evening routine. I Sometimes mix it with my emulsion if it it very hot outside. That gives me a little bit more oomph for during the day and my skin doesn’t feel dry by the end of the day.

Overall this is an amazing skin care product and does wonders for my skin in terms of brightening and evening my skin tone, reducing redness, smoothing out the rough patches of skin that I sometimes get in the winter. On top of that it makes my skin as firm as it gets when you hit your 30’s. It is a total “love, love, love” product of mine. I do have one issue with it. The applicator pipette is smaller than in the EL serum and I need to use 1,5 pumps of this serum to cover my entire face. I would appreciate it a lot if the packaging would be updated.

Pros:
+ Better alternative for more expensive EL’s Advanced Night Repair serum
+ Paraben, sulfate and alcohol free formula
+ Contains skin brightening, anti-ageing, acne fighting, wound healing ingredients
+ Lovely consistency that spreads out evenly
+ Light pleasant natural fragrance

Cons:
– Pipette picks up little product, a bigger size would be nicer. A pump would be even better!
– Packaging looks outdated

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: missha.nl and  bbcreamshop.eu
❇ Internationally: Available at iHerb, misshaus, notino and many other webshops
❇ Price is 34,99€ per 50 ml bottle

Innisfree It’s real squeeze mask – Black Berry

Today I am reviewing the It’s real squeeze mask with the Black Berry by Innisfree. This sheet mask is very lovely and affordable option suitable for for the daily use.

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ A mask made with freshly squeezed blackberry to make the skin firm and supple while reducing wrinkles.Get firm and elastic skin with the blackberry It’s real squeeze mask!
❇ The super food blackberry gives your skin protection to make it more healthy.
❇ Contains Jeju green complex. The Jeju green complex consists of green tea, tangerine, cactus, camellia leaves, and orchids to keep your skin healthy.
❇ Triple-layered sheet. This triple-layer sheet has a long-lasting moisturizing effect so that the essence can gradually be absorbed into the skin.

Directions from the manufacturer:

1. After washing your face, gently apply toner on your face to even out your skin texture.
2. Then, apply the mask over your entire face, avoiding your eye and lip areas.
3. Remove the mask after 10-20 minutes and gently pat your face to allow the remaining formula to absorb into your skin.

Ingredients:

Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Blackberry Juice(200mg), Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Dimethicone, PEG-100 Stearate, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Ethylhexylglycerin, Potassium Hydroxide, Adenosine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tangerine Peel Extract, Orchid Extract, The green Tea Extract, Camellia Leaf Extract, Prickly Pear Extract, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance

My experience:

I did like this mask a lot. Starting from it’s nice recognizable packaging and ending up with good results on my oily skin. It met it’s claims making my skin more firm and on the top of it it evened out my skin tone.

Once you open the packet you immediately smell the juicy berry scent which is not too strong but still lingers on your face while the mask is on. The sheet is made of thin cotton that is slightly rough to the touch. It is quite stretchy too.

I applied the Black Berry sheet onto my face and felt how nice and hydrating it was. The big downside of the sheet for me is the fit of this mask. I have quite prominent nose and no matter how I try to push it down around my nose, the sheet keeps lifting up. Even when  I wear my glasses over it it seems to have air around the nose bridge area. this time I was too lazy to cut it here and there so I just left it the way it is.

After full 15 minutes I took the mask off and was left with baby smooth skin that was very hydrated and looked brighter than before the application. The leftover essence was completely absorbed by my skin in less than a minute. I did enjoy the final results a lot and will be buying it again. The mask does what it promises and has an affordable price tag to it so why not use it more often.

Pros:
+ Affordable price
+ Nice berry scent
+ Hydrating and brightening on my skin
+ Paraben, alcohol and sulfate free formula
+ Suitable for oily and combination skin types

Cons:
– Sheet needs to be cut to fit  my face shape
– Contains fragrance
– May not be suitable for very sensitive skin
– Not an easy to buy product in EU webshops

Where to buy:
❇ NL: Not for sale in NL webshops
❇ Internationally: Available at innisfree website, amazon and yesstyle
❇ Price is +/- 1,50€ per mask

Homemade Modeling Mask (Rice) by MISSHA

Homemade Modeling Mask (Rice) by MISSHA is a DIY type mask that is fun to do. It leaves your skin soft, smooth and bright while cooling skin down and hydrating it.

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ This mask is recommended for:
– Those who want to soothe irritated skin
– Those who want to brighten up and revitalize their dull complexion from exhaustion
– Those who want to use natural, good ingredients for their skin
– Those who want quick results from short term care

❇ With brightening benefit as if cleansed with rice water, It contains natural rice powder and vitamin C derivatives that help make dull skin clear and radiant.

Directions from the manufacturer:

Choose a powder you want from the selection you have available. Mix in the powder with the essence gel. Using the spatula, mix in the two products by stirring in one direction. Using the spatula, spread the mask evenly onto entire face. After 15-20 minutes, remove the hardened mask by lifting it from the bottom up. Finish up your basic skincare routine afterwards.

Ingredients:

Missha Homemade Modeling Mask Essence Gel:
Water, Glycerin, Methylpropanediol, Algin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Carrageenan, Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate, Citric Acid, Butylene Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract.

Missha Homemade Modeling Mask Rice powder:
Glucose, Calcium Sulfate, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Powder, Dextrin, Fragrance, P-Anisic Acid, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid

My experience:

This is definitely not the first mask with this concept that I’ve tried in the past. There are several masks from Dr. Jart that work in a same way.

This MISSHA modeling mask comes in 2. parts: It has the active gel and a sachet that contains rice powder together with the other ingredients which make gel harden on your face.

The essence gel comes in a plastic capsule and contains 50 ml of the product which is a lot. It is enough to cover the entire face and what I found out later, was plenty to cover the neck area as well. I mixed the powder into the gel and stirred it well to make it one uniform mass. Since I didn’t have any spatula I just used plastic baby food spoon and it did work great for both mixing and application parts. Gel has a slight fragrance to it that disappears once the mask is applied onto the face.

The mixed goo is very runny in the beginning and tends to slide off the face. After application it looked like alien sneezed at me. I had to lay down for the hardening part that took about 20 minutes. If I would be standing up this entire time I would mask my decolleté as well.

After 20 minutes the mask was solidified feeling moist to the touch. It is hard to describe but it felt like a silicone layer that was giving off moisture if I pushed in it with my fingers. The mask came off in one piece and I was left with a freaky transparent sheet in my hands. It was fun to scare my husband with it.

My skin was left hydrated for an entire day. In terms of brightening it did even out my skin tone and reduced my pigmentation spots. There was no tacky or sticky feeling left on my skin after I removed the mask. Overall it is a very fun product to try out with your friends. The down side for me is that  took about half an hour of my time. I would not be able to play with these types of masks on a daily basis.

Pros:
+ Reducing pigmentation spots
+ Very hydrating long lasting effect
+ No tackiness on the skin after removal
+ Fun DIY mask
+ Paraben, sulfate and alcohol free formula
+ Nearly unnoticeable scent

Cons:
– Long process
– Droopy consistency at first
– Contains fragrance
– Lost my husband’s trust with this one 🙂

NATURE REPUBLIC Premium Foil Peel Off Pack

Since my hair turned silver with the magic of the hair dye, I will review something silver today. NATURE REPUBLIC Premium Foil Peel Off Pack is one of the most unique products in my masking arsenal and I like it quite a lot which is why it was a perfect product to put in today’s review.

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ Inverted Formula & Tone Supply for Chrome Color
❇ Contains white flower ingredients: Provides vital skin

Directions from the manufacturer:

Apply an appropriate amount to the skin (apply at once)
After 20 minutes (dry), slowly pull it up from the bottom up.
Lightly clean skin with toner.

Ingredients:

Water, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Alcohol Denat., Bismuth Oxychloride, Polyvinyl Acetate, Ethylhexyl Hydroxystearate, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Butylene Glycol, Propanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Cellulose Gum, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Water, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Sea Water, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Flower/Leaf Extract, Nelumbo Nucifera Germ Extract, Freesia Refracta Extract, Iris Versicolor Extract, Leontopodium Alpinum Flower/Leaf Extract, Lilium Candidum Bulb Extract, Narcissus Pseudo-Narcissus (Daffodil) Flower Extract, Rosa Damascena Flower Extract, Polyglutamic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance

My experience:

The mask comes in a simple silver squeezy type of tube with very little writing on it. I like how minimalistic it is but yet again one thing bothers me with the packaging. The opening for the mask is so tiny and since the mask is quite thick in consistency, it it very hard to push it through that little hole. Nature Republic, if you’re reading this, please change the lid on this thing!!!!

The mask is looking pearly white when it comes out of the tube. It is opaque in color and “shines bright” (and the rest of the stuff that Rhianna is singing). Consistency is very creamy and thick, yet odd for a peel off mask. It is not stretchy and stringy at all. You’d apply it as a normal thick cream or vaseline and then it starts to harden up on your face what causes a slight color change and it turns into that film that you can easily remove after it’s completely dry.

It has quite strong fragrance to it. Ican’t identify any single individual note but the scent definitely belongs to the floral category. It is very relaxing spa-type fragrance that you can smell the entire time that the mask is on the face.

Even though the advised wear time is 20 minutes, mask is nearly entirely dry after 10. I usually remove it in around 10-12 minutes. It comes off in one peel and what I like a lot- it doesn’t pull hard on the skin. So no facial hair removal with this one, hence no red and irritated skin afterwards. Instead, I am left with smooth baby skin. I did notice that this mask has brightened my face after use as well. My face feels firmer and more hydrated, even though the hydration part is minimal. I did still need to apply my daily moisturizer afterwards.

Pros:
+ Paraben and sulfate free formula
+ Good for dry, normal, combination and oily skin types
+ Easy to peel of in almost one piece
+ A little goes a long way
+ Luxurious spa-like scent
+ Good size packaging
+ Great at smoothing and brightening the skin
+ Doesn’t feel too tight on the face

Cons:
– Contains alcohol and fragrance
– Not best mask for sensitive and super sensitive skin
– Hard to get within the EU webshops
– Bad, bad, bad cap that allows very little product to flow out

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: TKmaxx shops
❇ Internationally: Available at amazon, carousell, NRCanada websites
❇ Price varies between 16-24€ per 70 ml tube

Morocco Ghassoul Cream Pack by Too Cool For School

Long time no see! Sorry for some quiet times on my blog page, I was on my vacation in sunny Cape Verde and internet was not so great there to publish anything.  I did bring a lot of things with me here so will make a post about what I actually used up in the two weeks time that I was there.

Today’s review is about the Morocco Ghassoul Cream Pack by Too Cool For School. This was one of those accidental buys that turned out into a pleasant surprise. The jar contains 100 grams of product and it will last me for a while.

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ Morocco Ghassoul Cream Pack is a cream-type, pore-cleansing mask pack is formulated with 10% organic Morocco Ghassoul clay certified by Ecocert.

❇ It cleanses pores, nourishes the skin, AND evens out skin tone! Man what can this amazing mask NOT do?!. Micro particles of Ghassoul clay gently remove dead skin cells while refining skin texture for smother, clearer, and more youthful appearing skin. Also this formula is rich in vitamins and minerals which are packed full of natural amino acids. Finally, manuka honey gives a instant boost of hydration, promoting cell regeneration for damaged skin. The formula is further enriched with Herb Flower Complex, consisting of Edelweiss, Calendula, and Camomile that softens and soothes skin.

❇ Suitable for oily and combination skin types

Directions from the manufacturer:

1. Apply a generous layer to clean, dry skin. Leave on for 5~10 minutes.
2. Rinse off thoroughly with warm water and pat face dry.

Ingredients:

Water/Eau, Kaolin, Moroccan Lava Clay, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Bentonite, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Titanium Dioxide, Honey Extract/ Miel, Extrait de miel, Leontopodium Alpinum Flower/Leaf Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Stearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Ceteareth-20, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Panthenol, Triethanolamine, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Stearate, Methylparaben, Chlorphenesin, Allantoin, Xanthan Gum, Fragrance (Parfum), Disodium EDTA.

My experience:

The Morocco Ghassoul Cream Pack comes in a brown plastic jar. It contains 100 grams of  off-white colored clay which is very thick and somewhat creamy. I was struggling with application with my hands for the first time because I didn’t expect the play dough consistency. The mask just kept falling off my face. Once I figured out that the brush application achieves much better results it got much easier for me.

I apply this mask only on to the centre of my face leaving my chin and the largest part of my forehead area untreated.  Why? Because this mask is hard to wash off and I don’t want to scrub my face unless I do it with a product that is made for it. Tip! -> This mask washes off way easier if you use the same brush you applied it with and make the clay wet prior to washing it off.

I also tried to do a spot treatment with it on the emerging pimples on my face and wow! For this purpose the results are more than great! No matter if my acne was huge, red and angry or whether it was a small not dangerously looking zit. In all of the cases this mask reduced the swelling around the pimples and the next day they are as good as gone!

Pros:
+ Sulfate and alcohol formula
+ Good for oily and combination skin
+ Great pore tightening results
+ Perfect for spot treatment of emerging pimples
+ Great amount of product per one pack

Cons:
– Contains paraben
– No-no for a dry and sensitive skin
– Extremely thick consistency
– Hard to get within the EU webshops
– Best used for spot treatment, avoid application to an entire face

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: TKmaxx stores
❇ Internationally: Available at beautybay and toocoolforschool webshops
❇ Price is +/- 18€ per jar depending on where you get it from

Morning skin care routine

To continue with fullfilling my promises in terms of sharing my skin care routines with you, today I will talk about my morning skin care routine. I will go more into detail into the products that I use, how I use them and in what order. Let’s start with the simplest task – the order:

Foaming cleanser:

This step ensures that all the residue from the night packs and creams is removed from my face. My go 3 products are the Vichy Normaderm gel cleanser, Nature Republic Hawaiian deep sea mild scrub foam cleanser and the IT’s True Premium Real Honey Deep cleansing foam.

Acid-based peeling:

This step is removing the dead skin cells and makes sure that make-up applies more evenly.  I use the pads and the spray for the convenience in the because this is just the fastest way of application. I do own the acid peel kits and face washes but I tend to pamper my skin with these once about every 2 weeks.

Nourishing wash-off mask and every 2-3 days a clay mask instead:

I tend to apply the nourishing mask for giving my skin quick moisture boost after acids which tend to be drying on my skin. My face immediately appreciates it and looks more rejuvenated after such treatment. My ultimate go-to products from this category are the British rose and the Amazonian acai masks from The body shop.

Every 2 to 3 days I skip the acid step and do the clay mask instead to keep my pores clean and blackheads under control. For that I typically use the Biotherm wonder mud and The Body Shop Himalayan charcoal mask.

Last 3 steps I use are always the same:

Super Aqua Oil Clear toner
Super Aqua Oil Clear Emulsion
Super Aqua Oil Clear Gel Cream

I always try to use the same skin care line because that way each products benefits the next one. Same with the night skin care routine. I did try mixing up the brands in the past. Unfortunately some of the products I used back then counteracted with each other which gave me a skin rash.

I would strongly recommend to invest into  the thin cotton pads for applying the toner and emulsion. That way you don’t waste your liquid products such as toner, emulsion, lotion, make-up remover e.t.c. These pads are my life-savers for making my products last longer!

That is it! Afterwards I just do some simple make-up and I am good to go.  Don’t hesitate to leave a comment if you have more questions about any of the mentioned products.

Compressed face masks by Skin.goo Australia

It’s time for some DIY! Today I’m reviewing a super cool product that I discovered some time ago at the local TKmaxx store. I am talking about the compressed face masks by skin.goo Australia. I’ve used several sheets for DIY masks in the past and to be honest these are the best!

Claims from the manufacturer:

❇ For a truly detoxifying and refreshing experience, these compressed charcoal face masks expand to a full size face mask.
❇ 25 pieces
❇ 100% Vegan
❇ Paraben free
❇ Sulfate free

Directions from the manufacturer:

Remove plastic seal. Add your favorite moisturizer, serum or toner into our compressed face mask. The compressed mask will absorb your serum and expand to a full size face mask. Leave face mask on for 10-15 minutes. Remove and pat skin dry.

Ingredients:

Not specified on the pack but I presume it is just dehydrated cotton.

My experience:

So what is  a compressed sheet mask? Well it is literally a sheet for the mask that is compressed to a size of the pill (large pill). It comes in a sealed capsule where you can pour your favorite serum, liquid moisturizer, toner or even fruit juice in order to make it your own unique sheet mask. FYI all of the mentioned ingredients can be mixed as well for one super-mask, but we’ll get to it later.

Each jar with masks comes with 25 pods and costs 5,99€. The assorted box containes both white (cotton) and black (bamboo charcoal) sheets. There is also one that has only the black sheets in it. So as they say, whatever floats your boat!

I usually open the capsule, take out the mask, fill up the capsule to the brim with the “juice” of my choice and put the compressed mask back into the capsule. Today the juice I chose was my new love – Super Aqua Mini Pore Tightening Toner. It is packed with mint extract and some other great ingredients and makes my skin feel wonderful! In the past I’ve used the witch hazel toner and my Time Revolution Night Repair ampoule that both worked great with these DIY sheets.

After mask has soaked everything that I added to the capsule I simply unfold it and apply onto my face. The sheet is very soft and elastic and adheres well to my face. The mask can be kept for 15-20 minutes without showing the signs of drying out. After I peeled off the sheet my skin was feeling cool, fresh and tight. Well last part was due to the tightening toner. Each time you use the ingredients of your choice, you will get the results based on the product you use.

Tip 1: If  you use a thicker consistency serum add some distilled or mineral water first. That you will soften up the mask. Add the serum or the moisturizer as a last part. That way you don’t use up all your precious serum but you’ll get all it’s benefits from the mask.

Tip 2: make it with the after-sun lotion if you have sun burned skin. 100% cooling and repairing for the skin.

Pros:
+ Hygienic in use due to the sealed individual packaging
+ Great quality cotton
+ Affordable price
+ Versatile in use
+ Great for vacations! You can apply after sun cream into it turning this into a soothing repairing mask
+ Black sheet mask makes you look like ninja 🙂

Cons:
– Hard to find witin the EU shops
– Capsule could be a bit larger to fit more liquid in it

Where to buy:
❇ NL and BE: TKmaxx shops
❇ Internationally:I could only find the kits on the skin.goo website. These come with mask capsules and + coconut water or Rosehip water
❇ Price: I paid 5,99€ for the set of 25 masks
